Actually, I’ve had a similar problem. My PS3 stopped reading the hard-drive about four months after I bought it (the harddrive worked, it just couldn’t read it), and it died a week later, and had to be replaced. My 360 hasn’t hiccuped once.

Not saying the 360 failure rate problem doesn’t exist, but the newer models are much more reliable. I don’t personally know anyone with the newer models who has ever red-ringed.

But when you compare 360 to PS3 and say the PS3 is worse..then ur dumb blind or both.

Much to Sonys credit though, it went down on the Thursday, had a replacement at the door on Monday, where I had to wait a month for my 360.

Doesn’t help your cause much when you are so blinkered you can’t even believe people saying a single bad thing about the PS3. 360 had the RROD, PS3 had the disc read error, not in the same quantity or notoriety, but it’s still a problem with some of the earlier builds.

Don’t complain about ‘backward’ compatibility or lack of. I bet you were one of the people that bitched about the original price.

Don’t get me wrong…I want a price cut too. So the PS3 can kick the shit out the 360 and shut all you micro-droids up.

I’d probably wager that if MGS4 was multi platform I’d not own a PS3 at all, which would be a shame as I’d have not discovered Ratchet and Clank or Valkyria Chronicles. It is in a strange situation though, being the most expensive and having the most troubles in terms of multi platform performance issues.

I’d love a cheap slim model mind.

Too many ‘tin foil hat, fanboy experts’ jerking off to wish fulfilment. I laid out the franchises that matter and Activision don’t have a monopoly on them. It’s also worth remember that Activision got to be #1 fat-cat publisher thanks to their acquisition of a bunch of folk that make a very succesful PC game called World of Warcraft.

Or, you know, you can ignore all of that, ignore all the people who are actually making money from PS3 (like EA, for example) and leap to Bobby’s call because.. ..well, it’s obvious. But if I said it I’d sound like O’Connor wouldn’t I?

If Activision could have their way PS3s would be given away for free. The fact is they’re making money from it, and unless the PS3 userbase is actually getting smaller (hint: it isn’t) they’ll continue to do so no matter what Sony does with the price.

Figures would argue otherwise. *WHY* would they make “idle threats”? What the hell would that achieve?

But the fact it’s the first time a third party has publicly threatened to stop making games for MS, Sony or Ninty since Square and the N64 12 years ago (that’s imo, btw. I’m happy to be proved wrong), I’d still say it’s a pretty big deal and not a very positive sign.

Attach rates mean everything to a company. The Xbox 360 has an extremely high attach rate, around 7 games for every owner of the console, last time I checked.

Another facts: Multi-format titles always sell better on the 360, usually by a significant fashion.

If the cost of PS3 development ends up being less than the profit they’re making from the games on the format, then yes, they *are* going to pull out, and it wouldn’t really surprise me considering the recession.

Of course, it would be sad to see this happen, because the PS3 deserves the support, but the reality of business is rarely a pretty one.
