Microsoft offers one month of Xbox Live Gold for $1

Live in the US? Been sticking with Xbox Live Silver because the prospect of paying $50 per year to get teabagged and pelted with racial slurs by kids raised on XBL by other kids raised on XBL doesn’t seem all that attractive? Well, for a limited time, a full month of Xbox Live is going for only $1.00. Might as well take the plunge, right?
Granted, there is a catch, but it’s a small one. At the end of your mostly free month, Microsoft will continue charging you for the rest of the year. Canceling is pretty painless, though, so unless it somehow slips your mind for 11 months or, you know, you decide you actually want to keep paying, Microsoft will pick naught but a single Washington from your pocket.
So go on. Make some angry child’s day.
Thanks, Joystiq.

They’re doing it over here for £1, too. I saw the ad on the dash last night.

God I hate this sort of thing. It’s fishing in murky waters. What’s next? Live streaming infomercials? A Home Shopper Network deal? A grooming sim?
