PEGI unveils new games ratings symbols

pegisymbols

PEGI’s posted a first look at its new games ratings symbols for the UK, after being named the sole board for British classification in the Digital Britain report yesterday.

The ratings range from 3-18, and are from green through yellow to red.

They’ll appear on the front and back of games packaging.

It’s still unclear when all this is going to be implemented.

Umm… is it me or do they look like the old ratings, except square?

They’re the old PEGI ratings with BBFC colours.

“Warn ing: These comments contain mild peril and heavy sexual undertones!”

Was the ‘online gameplay’ warning box always there? Or is that one new? I don’t remember ever seeing it before.

We’ve been told to include the new logos on all future artwork. So you’ll more than likely start seeing them appearing on packaging come August/September.

Can’t they just use the standard PEGI rating symbols, like the ones you see on the advertised box-shots for Sacred 2 on this very webpage?

I’m guessing the revised symbols are part of the ‘deal’.

It’s some thing BBFC had over PEGI, the BBFC 18 stands out more than the PEGI ones, this way your more drawn to it and see it more as a warning than a guide.

It would be awesome if PEGI put a game out with “Mild Peril” as a content descriptor. We took a lot of stick for that!

Man ratings logos are changed like underwear in Europe. Why can the US keep the same logos for ages but in Europe we have to make a fucking huge deal out of it?

Is there anything we’d really show a 3-7-year-old that we wouldn’t show to a 3-and-under-year-old?
