Analyst positive regarding THQ, says next fiscal year will be better

Wednesday, 10th June 2009 16:36 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Thanks to strong sales of Red Faction: Guerrilla and UFC 2009, Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey says that things are looking up for THQ.

“We are increasingly more optimistic on [THQ's] near term financial prospects as our focus shifts from near term liquidity concerns to their upcoming game pipeline where buzz is beginning to build,” he said.

“Management continues to rebuild credibility through execution on planned cost cutting, increased financial transparency and recent / upcoming product releases including UFC 2009: Undisputed that meaningfully exceeded our initial expectations.”

Hickey figures that Marvel Super Hero Squad and MX vs. ATV Reflex will sell over 1 million units and Darksiders  will move  1.575 million.

Fiscal year 2011′s Homefront, Warhammer 40K: Space Marines, and a possible Saints Row 3 should help get the company back in the mix, and he estimates that Q1 2010 revenues will hit $219 million.

after pc gamers help THQ they turn their very backs on them with Warhammer 40K: Space Marines.

You would have went bankuprt with out warhammer rts game. Nice to see relic likes their fan base.

there is going to alot more companies to go bankuprt.

interplay, midway made that very same mistake.

By the way there is pc gamers ready to rent a console and the game. Not spending a cent to the publishers for the game.

they should really look into games such fallout 3 and unrealtourment 3. They should look into we they went bankuprt.

    LOL WTF blackdreamhunk

    A) Relic never released Dawn of War on the consoles should console owners feel betrayed by that ?
    B) W40K Space Marine is a game like god of war not an RTS
    C) Space Marine is not being made for DoW RTS PC gamers.
    D) Games like God of War/Devil May Cry do not sell on the PC.

Relic stated the reason no Dawn of War on consoles is because they just dont work right and the the exact same applies to W40K Space Marine beat em ups do not work on the PC.

Oh and Relic took over duties in developing the game from another, hopefully it will be a big hit and Relic get to make lots more of games regardless of the platform.
