Press release confirms APB as PC only [Update]

The official APB press release issued by EA yesterday seems to stipulate that Realtime Worlds MMO will be PC only.
“Electronic Arts Inc. and Realtime Worlds, Inc. announced today that they have entered an exclusive marketing and distribution agreement for North America and Europe that will bring the highly-anticipated All Points Bulletin (APB) to PC in early 2010,” says the release.”
Rumour broke last month the APB was to be part of Microsoft’s E3 press conference, thus leading to speculation the game would be heading to console.
We’ll be interviewing Real Time Worlds this week so hopefully we can find out more.
Stay tuned.
Update: Realtime Worlds has updated the APB FAQ:
Q: “Will there be console ports?”
A: “We’re just starting to evaluate opportunities for a console port but do not have anything to announce yet.”
Thanks, Superfrog.
Update 2: Team Xbox cornered a RTW spokesperson who claimed: “”We’re not giving details out at the moment, but it is being developed for Xbox 360.” Which kind of did the opposite of what the spokesperson said it would. But there you go.
The saga continues.
Thanks, Blerk-o.

The updated FAQ on the official APB site says:
Q: “Will there be console ports?”
A: “We’re just starting to evaluate opportunities for a console port but do not have anything to announce yet.”

What’s going on here? APB was touted from the very start as a 360 mmo… this is a big step backwards as far as I can see.
Can you guys ask them why we’ve all of a sudden gone back to evaluating console ports from being a cert for a console release?

I know it’s been ‘rumoured’ as a 360 MMO from the start, but my understanding was that it was only ever ‘confirmed’ as a PC game. And that it was first and foremost a PC game.

Don’t worry guys. I hear that taking a PC game and putting it onto the 360 is trivial. Realtime Worlds are just messing with your heads.

Eurogamer have a story up claiming that it is still coming to 360, regardless of that press release. And so the cycle continues.

/cracks with the strain
This and The Agency are the only games I’ve really been childishly excited about in donkeys years.
Thank god for surprises like Demon’s Souls along the way…

See? Trivial! They’re gonna finish the PC version on a Friday and just push the big button that magically transforms PC games to 360 games before they switch the lights off and go home. Come Monday it’ll all be done and that’ll be that.
“No we’re not.” “Yes we are”
Heh. I told you’re they’re just messing with your heads. Tee hee.
