Gran Turismo 5 previewed at Sony press event

Gran Turismo 5 was previewed at Sony’s E3 event today.

Car damage is confirmed.

Showed people milling about a an Italian-looking market square and trams going past revealing a sexy Ferrari.

Jet fighter splaying out white, blue, red in the sky.

Also showed cars whizzing around several tracks, one of which was a desert.

Good times.

Car damage was shown only on the NASCAR labelled bits. I wonder if damage is only allowed in various parts of the game.

Licencees have put the kaibosh on their precious cars being turned into virtual scrap in the past so, although the tech may be there, the legal side of things may limit its breadth of application.

With all the time they are taking I’ve really gone off Polyphony. They do damn good car sex though. Very good vid. As pointed out above the biggest points are the WRC and Nascar licenses.

Yeah, the damage was in the WRC section. The Nascar motors looked pristine as best I could tell.

WRC though… awesome.
