Square Enix’s Kitase and Toriyama have just revealed at Microsoft’s E3 press conference that Final Fantasy XIII will ship in spring next year.

They have also just shown first footage of the game running on Xbox 360, and have announced that the Final Fantasy franchise has seen a total of 85 million units sold worldwide to date.

The news came out of Microsoft’s E3 press conference this morning.

Well, so much for ‘we’re not starting the 360 version until the PS3 version is finished’. Unless it’s been finished for ages and they just weren’t telling us. :-)

That’s far, far sooner than I expected. Is that a NA date only? Or are they going for a worldwide release?

Oh! I just watched the video and noticed that it’s in English! Is this the first time we’ve seen the localised version? I think it is. Maybe they’re further along than they’ve allowed us to believe.
