Wonder if they’ll bundle the first game into the console versions as well?

Excellent. Crysis has some of the most solid gunplay in gaming, just hope it’s better put together than warhead was.

    #2 6 years ago
  3. No_PUDding

    No it doesn’t.

It has insanely nasty gunplay, from what I played of it on a MOUSE no less.

That game is really not about the shooting at all.

  4. JesteR

LOL no Crysis 1 for consoles? Crysis is suppose to have 3 parts. So they kinda need to release the first Crysis to consoles too.

  5. SplatteredHouse

Never played this, barely even seen it, tbh, but lots of people think highly of it, so it’s got to be worth a look. I’ll be watching EA’s event later. :)

Well this isn’t going to be out for some is it? I remember someone saying that Cry Engine 3 is a long way from finished.

    #6 6 years ago
  7. Hunam

@PUD: What now? It’s deeper than any other shooting mechanics I’ve ever seen. Even trumps CoD4 in the feel of guns department which is a milestone in itself. Opinions though obviously.

    #7 6 years ago
  8. No_PUDding

Deeper maybe, but the actual gunplay is not great.

It’s got an awful perspective, bad impact (on humans with their basic ragdoll) and pretty wimpy sounds for all the weapons I experienced.

  9. deanimate

Just get rid of the stupid aliens. that or don’t make them so shit. crysis went downhill when it got to the boring ass alien parts of the game.

Whatever happened to consoles being ‘incapable’ of running Crysis??????????!

    #10 6 years ago
  11. No_PUDding

    The CryEngine 3 happened.

    This won’t look like Crysis.

    #11 6 years ago
  12. Blerk

CryEngine 3 isn’t a ‘step back’, Pud. It’s just more scalable so that it can fit onto less advanced platforms. The PC versions will still be right at the high end.

    #12 6 years ago
  13. G1GAHURTZ

PUD, stop whinging about any shooter that isn’t KZ2.

I’ve never played Crysis before, but I remember some console CryEngine 3 stuff looking pretty spectacular.

    Looking forward to this…

    #13 6 years ago
  14. No_PUDding

Blerk, I am sure it won’t be.

Something designed for the platform> Something designed for multiplatform.

    Always.

G1GAHURTZ, stop being so thin-skinned. Gunplay in KZ2 is amazing. Doesn’t mean it’s half as varied and special as Crysis.

    #14 6 years ago
  15. endgame

i think we should make 2 different sections for writing comments, one for us, the normal people, and one for PUD. who’s with me? ;p

    #15 6 years ago
  16. Blerk

But the PC isn’t really ‘single platform’. You have a whole host of machine capabilities and hardware types to encourage your game to run on, so you have to be able to build your engine to take advantage of those high-end systems but also to perform adequately on the lower-end stuff.

They’ve already said that CryEngine 3 performs ‘like a mid-range PC’ on the 360 and PS3 and I see no reason to think they’ve hobbled the engine because of that.

    #16 6 years ago
  17. G1GAHURTZ

    Eh?

    Varied and special?

In your first post you seemed to me to be saying that Crysis’ shooting was rubbish.

It just seems to me like you expect every FPS to look like KZ2, or it’s poo, and no-one should buy it. (i.e. MAG.)

    #17 6 years ago

btw i played both crysis and crysis warhead and they r fantastic titles, awesome graphics (very scalable as well. used to run crysis on medium on a p4 at 3GHz, 2GBs of ram and a 8600gt with NO frame rate drops), good sound, good music, pretty good gameplay and a decent story. i especially loved the fact that u can aproach every situation from different perpectives, like the first time i played it, i used stealh a lot, while the second time, i used pure force. i only hated one thing, the sniper mod was bad, more like, no sniper mod at all.. :(

here is the thing it’s smart to go multi plat, however crysis on consoles is going to be so dumbed down it wouldn’t be funny. Consoles are out dated and old not worth playing.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVsT4D2_VTI

this is good way for them to sell their engine. This game will really show how old those consoles really are. I bet if you were ot max out crysis on consoles it would look like this.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AOyLcvyEEo&feature=related

crysis on consoles will be so dumded down it will not be funny.

oh this were crytek slowly goes bankuprt tooo just like all the other console game devs.

here lets look at how dumed down console graphics are

It’s always funny to watch PC people overreact when console versions of previously PC-exclusive stuff get announced. They knock 360/PS3 fanboys into a cocked hat. :-D

this game will be a slap in the for ID software and epic games, I kind of like it :)

  26. BULArmy

It is official this game with 80% chance to be bad. The game will be dumbed down because of the console noobs. And the PC verssion will also sux because it will be a port of 360, because the 360 will be the leading platform. And “yes” console fanboys we also can be fanboys when something ours it taken for us and made more lame for you and we suffer for that. I hope you version is buggy, with nasty frame rate and horrible controls.

    #26 6 years ago
  27. Blerk

What are you talking about? Crytek make more money out of flogging their engine than they do out of their games. How does adding an extra couple of supported platforms suddenly equate to bankruptcy?

there is only two on there for pc that is mmo’s everything else is is console game devs. Oh you can add the watch men game devs to that too.

Yea pc gaming is doing fine in the recession all console game devs are losing money. Both pc hardware and software is up. It’s also the reason EA loves pc gaming right now.

    #33 6 years ago
  34. No_PUDding

Well G1GAHURTZ, I believe a massive part of a game is it’s aestehtics and art design. It’s actually such a forgotten element of games.

So it’s defintely important to me, thinkgs look and move well.

    #34 6 years ago
  35. G1GAHURTZ

Yeah, what with the COD series and Guitar hero, maybe Activision would have loads more money if it wasn’t for those pesky consoles…

    #35 6 years ago
  36. G1GAHURTZ

Yeah, I’ve no problem with that PUD. But you do realise that other people can enjoy games without them looking photo-real?

For example, I look at MAG and see a potentially quality online MP FPS with loads of weapons and variations on tactics and gameplay.

If it doesn’t look 10/10 and if Crysis 360/PS3 doesn’t look 10/10 I’m not fussed.

    #36 6 years ago
  37. blackdreamhunk

guitar hoero is multi plat, that doesn’t stop the console decline going on right now both in software and hardware. It doesn’t stop publisher from all console game devs from losing money does it.

    #37 6 years ago
  38. G1GAHURTZ

    Yeah, you could be right.

Perhaps all console devs should just quit, listen to you and make games exclusively for PC from this very exact second right now.

    #38 6 years ago
  39. No_PUDding

Hey, everyone’s different. I come here to complain. If you complain about my complaining, thats fine. But I will continue complaining anyway.

On a more serious note. When I see screenshots or trailers, that are montagey… I judge the graphics, becuase CLEARLY that is what they are trying to communicate.

    No mechanics…

  40. Psychotext

“there is only two on there for pc that is mmo’s everything else is is console game devs. Oh you can add the watch men game devs to that too.”

Umm… primarly PC devs on that list were:
    3D Realms
    Ensemble Studios
    Aces Game Studio
    Flagship Studios
    Humanature
    NCsoft European Studio

Which is pretty much half the list you linked.

    #40 6 years ago
  41. blackdreamhunk

    NCsoft European Studio MMO’s
    Flagship Studios MMO’s

yes only two the rest is because of consoles. It called high production costs on consoles!!!!In a recession ;) you can include watch men in that list too.

Oh do you want me to start listing fincal records too.

    #41 6 years ago
  42. Psychotext

    You’re utterly clueless.

Feel free to go and get the financial reports. It should be entertaining.

    #42 6 years ago
  43. G1GAHURTZ

I’d say that it depends, PUD.

Sure, if they’re just cutscenes, then yeah, they’re letting you know how good the game looks.

But if they’re gameplay montages, then they’re trying to give you an impression of the overall gameplay experience.

Visuals, effects, gameplay, audio, action, difficulty, AI, etc.

So I personally tend to not just focus on the visuals, because there is usually always so much more.

yea goes to show there isn’t much for high end gaming right. Just wait until the high end games are on the market. just wait until Intel release it’s project offset.

It goes to show much more import pc gamin is then consoles. Yea if hardware companies go banpurt gaming dies. you can bet those console will be even more expsive.

Yes, I’m sure Nintendo are going to go bankrupt any minute now.

Still waiting on the financial reports for those companies. Will be really interesting to see that the majority of their games were for consoles… or not.

    how THQ numbers
    how is EA numbers
    how is sega’s numbers

almost all the publishers who are mainly consoles are losing profit

Even take two is losing money on GTA. they made money on civilation.

consoles are a marketing failure, sony and micro soft will never ever be the same agin. They are both in the red.

you want to know why there will not be any new consoles. here is a really good link here!!!

lol… Nintendo feeling the heat? Their revenue in 2008 was around $19bn. That’s pure gaming revenue for one single company… without having to add up all the sales of business PCs to pad their numbers either.

pc gaming hardware and software making alot more money than nintendo could only dream about.

how is “new consoles” coming along

    http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2009/05/e3-predictions/

you better enjoy them now because this will be the last generation of consoles ever.

yea i hear people are paying like $80 for a game lol what a joke.

Good god… what are you smoking? The next MS, Sony and Nintendo machines are in development right now.

As for PC gaming hardware sales, I think you’d better stop swallowing the PCGA numbers quite so easily. Those numbers are taken from PCs “capable of playing games” – which is pretty much every machine sold.

(Funny thing is, this PC marketing droid is arguing with someone who has always been a PC gamer first and foremost. :D )

Do you know why devs are always looking for alternatives to PC?

    One simple word.

    Piracy.

Want to know why Halo 3 is the biggest earning entertainment release, ever?

Because if it was on PC, probably half of it’s sales figures would have dissappeard into the bittorrent wilderness.

Devs don’t want to make games for PC, and they don’t like the PC.

The only reason that the few PC only devs remain is probably because their games just don’t work on console.

Just look at the console sales for COD4.

We’re talking about THE best selling FPS in history.

The vast majority are on 360, then PS3, then the former so-called king of FPS’s, the PC comes a distant 3rd.

If anything, the hardcore games are going exclusively to console, and the PC gamers are being left with solitaire and The Sims!

yea pircay is much bigger on consoles here take a look at nintendo dsi and wii it’s in the billions. In fact there is a market for pirated console games

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/Almost-1-Billion-Dollars-Lost-by-Nintendo-in-2007-78918.shtml

pirates don’t make money off of pc games. Then there is the used game market for consoles and rented games. ;)

oh those figures for nintendo are old I’m sure thereis alot bigger figures

  61. Psychotext

Shhh Shatner… arguing for the sake of arguing is fun! :D

Hey bdh, given PC game sales are so awesome, why are there only four titles that have ever sold more than 10 million? That doesn’t compare particularly well to the 20+ console titles that have done more than 10m.

Given there are supposedly 228m gaming capable PCs out there, that’s pretty poor indeed.

yea them shooters like must games on consoles are a joke!!!

what does console have to offer action games? how about watered dwon rpg”s. Yea the mindless buttom mashing and reshaed gamesply is real great.

  67. G1GAHURTZ

    What!?

Every single genre that you can think of that exists on PC is also available on console.

And if shooters on console are a joke, then why are more people playing them than on PC?

Why is the best selling and most played FPS in history way more popular on console??

Because PC’s days as a hardcore machine are fading fast, that’s why…

£300 every year for the latest graphics card with the most up-to-date version of DirectX…constant patches…aimbots and hax left right and centre…wait 6 minutes for your PC to boot up before you can even launch a single game…no single universal online community standard…cramp in your hands from pressing 10 different keyboard keys for things that only take one thumb on a console pad…restricted to a desk, can’t relax on a sofa…always need more RAM…fry your PC trying to overclock it because it’s 2 years old, which is practically ancient history…etc, etc, etc.

    Nah, sorry.

    Keep it.

Me and the rest of the hardcore gamers have made our choice.

Tbh G1Ga,if u think piracy is the issue here
am sad to say that you listen to media too much
360games are all over the web before the official release date, and 360s are EASY to mod even the NEWEST ones,
the fact that people don’t do it more often is because A:they don’t know how or/what to do/where to
    B:fear of avoiding the warranty

    For example:take 3rd world countries
where i live,Egypt, the only thing bigger than PC and PS2 here is the 360 ,a year ago people didn’t even know that MS has consoles !

but now 360s are in A LOT of homes ,why ?
easy answer,u pay 50$ for a mod job that DOESN’T EVEN remove your warranty sticker because the guy who does it is more pro than you think he would be

A lot of my friends in the UK who have 360s modded em ,and YES they play online with some kinda stealth program.

so please if u wanna take this to the piracy angle, tackle it differently

no flame intended or attack ,for that matter

blackdreamhunk, just…stop. :) Crytek made a decent buck on PC with Crysis and Far Cry but they want to sell more of course and they saw a really, really big challenge in making the CryEngine 3 run on current-gen consoles. Epic’s Tim Sweeney doesn’t even buy it that it’s possible btw, what kind of bigger motivation can you possibly give these guys? It’s something that might benefit the PC side as well with some better performance on multicores.

Besides, since there is no mention of bringing the original and Warhead to consoles these console gamers will want to try out those titles too once they finished Crysis 2. By then a PC that runs Crysis well will be absolutely dirt cheap so in the end PC always wins. Deep inside everyone knows that it’s still the most interesting platform there is… ;)

  77. G1GAHURTZ

It’s not that consoles are totally safe and secure, ShiroGamer, because they’re not.

It’s that PC’s are so easy to pirate for, that even your casual computer illiterate gamers can do it without too much hassle.

There’s virtually no point whatsoever in putting copy protection on any PC game, because all you need to do to bypass it these days is type the name of the game and “crack” or “keygen” into google and 5 minutes later you’re playing a free game.

Consoles are by no means perfect in this regard, but compared to PC, they’re a much safer option right now.
