Maxis staffing for “fast-paced multiplayer action game”

Maxis is looking for staff for a “fast-paced multiplayer action game,” as you can see here.
The Sims? “Action”? Probably not. The ad says the position’s to work on a project “focused on heavy customizability,” and calls for “RPG, combat, or card collection game design experience.”
It’s a Sims-Conan hybrid. The truth is we just don’t know.
Thanks, superannuation.

EA loss expected for March quarter results, full-year figures tomorrow

EA’s expected to announced a loss for its fourth fiscal quarter tomorrow, with a Reuters poll pointing to a 43 cents per share downside on sales of $631.9 million.
“While the company may not deliver significant revenue upside compared to consensus, we think that prospects for very strong June results will embolden management to deliver some upside in the March quarter,” said Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter in a note today.
Watch for full-year figures and news tomorrow after NYSE close.

TMNT remake – first video

Remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake that was shown in New York last week? There’s a really rough video of it in action after the break.
It’s a revamp of Turtles in Time. Looks cool. Well, what you can see does, anyway. Just squint and pretend.

Monster Hunter 3 (tri~) listed for US launch

Capcom’s listed Monster Hunter 3 (tri~) as an upcoming US release on its press site.
This isn’t shocking in any way. If there’s one thing Capcom’s more than anxious about getting busy with in the West, it’s Monster Hunter.
There’s been no announcement as such, but, well, you know.

New TMNT game shown in New York

According to this Ninja-Pizza post, a new Ninja Turtles games was shown in New York last week.
It’s a Turtles in Time remake with 3D graphics, from the look of it.
From the piece:
- The game is set up and directly taken from TMNT Turtles in Time.
- Right now it’s only going to be for Xbox Live, but they’re working on bringing it to Wii (Virtual Console Wiiware?).
- It has the same music as the old game.
- Only the levels “Alleycat Blues” and “Skull and Crossbones” were playable.
- The only difference noticed was the bosses for the “Skull and Crossbones” are Tokka and Rahzar (unlike the original, which had Bebop and Rocksteady).
- For Alleycat Blues the boss is still Metalhead.
- The game is basically Turtles in Time with new graphics – Awesome!
No idea who’s publishing this. Thanks, Blerk.

Housers head up to Time 100

Time’s put Sam and Dan Houser in the “artists and entertainment” section of its most influential people in the world issue, saying the pair have offered “quantum leaps in genre-defining fun”.
Their work’s on a par with that of Dickens, apparently:
“But what makes the Housers’ creation unparalleled is that their games have a take on American cultural history,” said Matt Selman, executive producer of The Simpsons.
“A smart take. A take that solidifies the culture’s vision of its recent past. Was it a prominent film or book or record that defined how we look back on gang-era Los Angeles? No, it was a video game that uses movies, music and writing to a greater effect.
“Who better summarized and satirized the drug-dealing Miami of the ’80s? Or the New York City of now? The Housers are doing the work of Tom Wolfe, creating tapestries of modern times as detailed as those of Balzac or Dickens. At least, I assume that’s true. Instead of reading those guys, I’ve been in Liberty City stealing tanks.”
Thanks, Kotaku.
