Rumor: Leaked photos of Ghostbusters Proton Pack for Wii surface

protonpack

Some leaked photos of what appear to be a Ghostbusters Proton Pack for Wii have surfaced.

A source close to NintendoPad sent them in, but it’s not 100 percent sure that this thing will hit the market.

According to the source:

“I got a email from Intec (a third party gaming accessories inc. ) to work on a wii attachment for the wii remote…when i opened the email i almost started to cry . They want to make a proton gun that a wii remote can go into and play the game with. They are the ones who made the light saber wii attachment the the Force Unleashed game.”

Could be very interesting if it turns out to be true, let alone actually hit stores.

Sony plans to “quickly” break even on PlayStation business

kazhirai

Sony bossman Kazuo Hirai plans to bring the PlayStation end of the business out of the red and have it at least break-even “soon”.

The plan? Cost-cutting, network expansion, the possibility of adding PSN services to other products such as televisions, and digital cameras. The plan would raise sales of its PlayStation Network to around $523 billion for the current business year from less than $209 billion last year.

“We need to quickly bring our PlayStation business on a break-even level and later to profitability,” said Hirai. ‘‘We need a strategy where buying a hardware is not the endpoint but instead a starting point that can offer new experiences to our customers.”

Whether this includes a price-cut on the PS3 or not was not mentioned. Instead, Hirai said that such a strategy would be decided by “market developments.”

Jay-Z and Eminem added as “consultants” for DJ Hero

eminem1

A special-edition bundle of the game will include a greatest-hits CD from both, possibly with new tracks, an advanced version of the controller, DJ stand, and a metal traveling case.

This is all according to USA Today, who interviewed both artists regarding their contributions.

“I don’t want to give away any surprises yet,” Eminem said in an e-mail interview. “DJ Hero will include my music, and I’ll be providing additional material as downloadable content by the end of the year.”

Jay-Z seemed impressed with game claiming that “you actually get lost doing it”, and that it creates “a DJ’s universe.”

Good thing.

CrimeCraft will release on August 25, and Best Buy has the exclusive rights to sell it.

That’s right, you can’t buy it anywhere else thanks to the hand shaking between the retail giant, Vogster, and THQ.

The good news, though, is that you can get it online instead of walking into the store if you like, and you will be rewarded with two months of free play and some in-game shirts.

If you pre-order, your in-game character will also get to sport a pair of Eckos (shoes), a spot in the beta and the full game three days earlier than folks who didn’t pre-order.

Blizzard hires an additional 500 staffers for Cork support center

cork21

Staff at Blizzard’s support center in Cork, Ireland has grown from 100 people to 600, and more development in the training and technology sector are still planned.

The center operates 365 days a year and 25 different languages are used in spoken and written communication. Due to its expansion, Blizzard has signed a new deal with Industrial Development Agency Ireland for new support and technology tools along with new training routines.

“The Cork center has played an integral role in providing support to our European players, and with the help of IDA Ireland, it has greatly exceeded our initial expectations,” said Blizzard CEO Paul Sams.

“This new agreement with IDA Ireland will help us maintain a dedicated workforce there that corresponds to the ongoing European service requirements for World of WarCraft as well as our upcoming games.”

Opened in 2007, the center was only expected to create 100 new jobs in the area by 2010, so this expansion is a massive one.
