Radical seeking designer and programmer for Wii port

Radical Entertainment has posted job listings for a designer and programmer familiar with Wii.
The designer must have an “affinity for 3rd Person ‘Open-World’ Camera Design/Functionality”, and the programmer needs to be able to “take game features from concept to execution for a port of a 360/PS3 game to the Wii.”
Talk has it as a possible Wii port of Prototype, but more than likely it’s the Spider-man game rumored to be in development.

Rumor: Buzz Monkey, Crystal Dynamics working on next Tomb Raider

Speculation that Crystal Dynamics and Buzz Monkey are working on the next Tomb Raider has hit the net thanks to an online resume and a website announcement.

According to the same report, Buzz Monkey, has listed a “Top Secret Game” on its official website, calling it the “next smash success.”

Brutal Legend: We didn’t think we’d get Jack Black, says Schafer

Brutal Legend is Jack Black. Jack Black is Brutal Legend. Apparently, though, Double Fine boss Tim Schafer never thought Herr Black would be interested in the title.
“We didn’t think we’d get someone of that calibre in the game,” Schafer said, talking at EA’s spring showcase in London.
“We were just inspired by him. When I saw School of Rock it reminded me of how I’d wanted to make this game for years: just that character, and how sincere he was, how much he loved metal.
“When we cast the voice, we were like, ‘We don’t want to get an imitator. That would just be stupid.’ Then we heard through secondhand information that he really liked Psychonauts, and that gave us the courage to get in touch with him. We pitched him the game, and he loved it. And he signed up.”
It could have been Lemmy, kids.
Brutal Legend ships for PS3 and 360 this October.

Houser: Red Dead Redemption multiplay to include “charging around on horses”

Red Dead Redemption is to have multiplayer containing stagecoaches and trains, Rockstar’s Dan Houser’s told IGN.
“Charging around on horses and stagecoaches and trains, shooting each other in a multiplayer world,” said Houser.
“It’s pretty epic, but it’s not finalized to talk about in any more detail than that. We’re still learning a lot as we learn how to do multiplayer games successfully.”
Houser said lessons learned on GTA IV would be applied to its upcoming western.
“We definitely feel there’s something really fun about third-person multiplayer games, just as we feel there’s something really fun with third-person single-player games.
“Even between GTA IV and the Lost and Damned we made quite a leap forward in how the games were structured and how they played and I think we’re looking to do that again with everything we do going forward.”
The game’s out this year.

Fallout 3 DLC has been “hugely successful,” more may come, says Bethesda

Broken Steel may have been the last scheduled bit of Fallout 3 DLC, but there may be more, Bethesda’s Peter Hines has told OXM.
“Whether it’s the absolute last one remains to be seen, because it’s been hugely successful,” he said.
“Operation Anchorage vastly exceeded our expectation. It was like, ‘Holy shit, we did how many?’ And the Pitt was really successful, after a bit of a false start.
“But Broken Steel is the one that… everyone has been bugging us the most about, because it removes the ending and changes the level cap and lets you play more in that world.
“I think it’s going to be hugely, hugely popular.”
Broken Steel’s out now.

We’re in the next-gen sweet spot, says Fight Night dev

This is it, kids. We’re in the next-gen super-zone. We know because Dean Richards, senior producer on Fight Night Round 4, told us so at the EA spring showcase in London.
“We’re in the sweet spot of the next generation, of pushing, of getting to that kind of place,” he told us.
Richards was quick to add that Fight Night Round 3 was a game of its time.
“We pushed the hardware as fast as we could, or as best as we could when we go to Round 3,” he said.
Round 4 comes packed with advanced features such as adaptive AI, 60 frames a second, a streamlined combo system and additional online modes over Round 3.
It’s out on June 26.

Nintendo – Hardcore loves to be unfulfilled

Nintendo’s Denise Kaigler never wants to give you enough. She wants you to keep begging, you disgusting little boy.
“I will give you that hardcore gamers have an insatiable appetite for everything Nintendo,” she told BitMob.
“And we love that! We love that! When we get to a point where core gamers say, ‘OK, Nintendo, enough! We don’t need any more games from you guys…” None of us wants to be put in that position, right?
“We don’t want your appetite to ever be satisfied, because when we satisfy you, it’s time for us to go [dusts off hands], ‘OK! Let’s go on home now!’ And none of us wants to go home. So there’s this sort of fun… relationship, I think, that’s happening between Nintendo and the hardcore gamer — which we enjoy and hope that the core gamer enjoys it.”
Keep going, Denise. Nearly there.
