Latest issue of Old Republic: Threat of Peace web comic up

oldrepublic23b

BioWare’s released issue #7 of it’s Star Wars: Old Republic build-up web comic entitled Threat of Peace.

The MMO is shaping up rather nicely, and these we comics do a good job of keeping the thirst for more media well and truly quenched.

Go read.

Kotick sells $60m Acti shares

kotick1b

BusinessInsider is reporting that Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, together with chairman of the board Brian Kelly, sold $60 million worth of Activision shares last week.

The article speculates that Kotick and Kelly could be cashing in due to Gamestop announcing Friday that “that same store sales were weak and its outlook cloudy for the second quarter.”

Gather ye rose buds while ye may, etc.

New Champions Online trailer shows cool armour

championsonline1b

Below you can see some brand new footage from Champions Online detailing the different armour types you can expect to see in the game.

Not just any armour mind, we’re talking mounted mini-guns, micro rockets, energy shields, laser eyes and repulsor beams. Sounds great.

The Atari MMO was pushed back with “more time” being the reason cited.

If “more time” means is going to better than we’ve seen already, then that can only be a good thing we think.

Thanks, Massively.

New Heavy Rain screens show pretty lady in red

heavyrainb

EG.pt has a handful of new Heavy Rain screens that are basically just a few stills from last Friday’s new footage including the lovely reporter Madison Page strutting her stuff in a tight red number.

We’re not desperate, honest.

Go watch the footage again, if nothing else but to marvel at Geoff Keighley’s awesome t-shirt and cardigan combo.

Rumour: Square Enix to announce three new titles before E3

sqenix1b

Gameplayer reckons it’s gotten wind of the fact that Japanese development powerhouse Square Enix is set to announce three new titles before E3 next week, and that two of them will be multiplatform.

The announcements will be prior to E3 because Square Enix won’t be attending the show, apparently. No further details are forthcoming at this time.

Rockstar looking for 8 new staff – new game on the way?

rockstar1b

Over at Edge’s job section you can see that Rockstar North – you know, that tiny Scottish-based dev firm that does those open world thingies called ‘Grand Theft Auto’ – is looking to fill eight positions.

The jobs range from level designer, AI programmer to senior tools programmer giving us that sneaky suspicion that perhaps a new title is on the way. Either that, or eight people just left and they need replacing.

So, fancy a job working for one of the best development houses in Europe? All through the link.

Don’t expect too much today. Both the UK and US have been stricken with public holidays.

We’ll be updating all day, however. We’re nice like that.

Full Modern Warfare 2 trailer released [Update]

modernwarfare221

It’s after the break. This was shown on US TV last night. It looks very amazing. Disappointment possibility zero, soldier.

Be warned: it actually shows the end of Modern Warfare, so if you’re one of the four people on the planet left to play through CoD4′s campaign, that may be something to bear in mind.

The game’s out on November 10.

Update: You can watch in HD on Live now, according to Nelson.

Blizzard drops hints for upcoming World of Warcraft patch

wow1

Over on its official site, Blizzard has talked a bit about the “in the works” patch for World of Warcraft titled Call of the Crusade.

Patch 3.2 will be a major content update and – so far – will include the following:

  • The Argent Tournament Expands: With the help of Azeroth’s heroes, the Argent Crusade will finish the Argent Coliseum just in time to call for all brave citizens to prepare for battle with the Lich King. New dailies, rewards, and more will be available at the Argent Tournament grounds to lure adventurers into the coliseum.
  • Crusaders’ Coliseum: In order to prepare for a siege on Icecrown Citadel, players will be called by the Argent Crusade to test their mettle in the Coliseum. 5-player, 10-player, and 25-player challenges await inside.
  • New Battleground: Isle of Conquest, a new large-scale siege Battleground, will be open. The Horde and Alliance will battle head-to-head for control of strategic resources to lay siege to the keeps of their opponents.
  • New Arena Season: Season 7 will officially start, paving the way for all-new items and challenges.

No word on when it can be expected, but you can find out what is known through the link.

Oversized Final Fantasy XIII posters confirm 2010 US release

ffxiii

We knew it wouldn’t leave Japan until 2010, but photos of building advertisements for Final Fantasy XIII have confirmed it.

Those who live in Los Angeles can go to the corner of S. Figueroa Street and Olympic Boulevard and just look upward.

The new adverts replace ones for Chinatown Wars.

Getting ready for E3 we reckon.

Weekly MMO news round-up: EVE Lore updates, EverQuest double XP, Bounty Bay hunts

eveonlinea

Not much this week for MMOs, sorry to say. Most are just giving players an “extra experience weekend” to lull them into playing on the PC instead of being outside grilling burgers and getting bent on beer.

Well, if you are an American that is expected of you this weekend. Most of us just do that anyway.

However, despite all that, we have dug through the mire once more to bring you something in the way of MMO news that didn’t hit the front page.

It’s all after the break, if you like.

Wallace & Gromit out for Xbox Live next week

wallacegromit

Major Nelson has given us an early update on what to expect for Xbox Live next week.

On Wednesday, Wallace & Gromit: Fright of the Bumblebees, Square Enix’s Yosumin Live, and Boggle for Hasbro Family Game Night will be made available for 800 MS Points ($10.00) each.

This early update is due to it being Memorial Day Weekend in the states, and because whole the country shuts down on Monday the 25th.

Well, the shops and liquor stores will still be open.  But they never really close, do they?

No middle of the road for inFamous, you’re either good or evil

infamous

Nate Fox, the director for inFamous, says that there isn’t a middle ground for players in the game.

They will either do good deeds or evil deeds. No shades of gray.

“We had [neutral karma] initially, but we found that people wanted to be really good or really evil,” he told PlayStation.Blog. “No one cared about the middle.”

“All of Cole’s base powers get twisted by his moral decisions. We wanted to give people who were heroic powers that offset that play style and the same for evil people. Really you get two very different play-throughs depending on which side of the moral fence you land on”

“The karmic changes to your powers work better for different kinds of play. So some people will find evil easier, some people will find good easier. Both are super fun.”

We’ve heard this before earlier in the month from Sucker Punch co-founder Bruce Oberg, when he explained that “good and evil is not just a binary choice.” You can switch between the two.
