No multiplay for Arkham Asylum

Rocksteady’s confirmed to Joystiq that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be a single-player only game.
“We’re just focusing on being Batman,” said lead narrative designer Paul Crocker.
“We could have spent less time on that, and more time on adding stuff in, but really the game is successful because you feel like you’re Batman.”
The game was confirmed today for an August ship in both the US and Europe.
There’s a full interview through there. The game’s being shown in LA next week.

It’s a game that doesn’t need multiplayer.
If it did, how would it work? I suppose they could have 2 player co-op with Robin, but that’d totally change the game mechanic from ultra cool stealth predator to lame Adam West era brawler action.

“It’s a game that doesn’t need multiplayer.”
Nonsense, if you can shoe horn in a shitty deathmatch MP mode, DO IT!

I don’t see what’s so cool about MP.
I personally find SP games much more fun than MP. You can immerse yourself much more on the game plot.
Thank god this game is not gonna be like L4D or CS.

In games where there’s a co-op element it’s much better to have a human partner.
Although I was playing Gears co-op 5 minutes ago and the cunt I was paired with kept hogging the ammo – it’s a poor state of affairs when you’re having to use dropped enemy guns in a game like Gears when there are weapon caches every 10 feet.

To hell with MP. It’s “a brawler”? What trailers are you watching? I watched the ones where the player was playing as Batman and his enemies were hopelessly outmatched goons who could only hope to win through numbers before the player escaped back into the shadows or took them all down.
How exactly would that work with MP? Whoever lands the first hit is going to win as the game is constructed now. Even if you wanted to fix it up, it would take money and time. I want the game now.
I remember hating how there were never enough games with co-op, but you know we’re now at the other extreme when people are crying for co-op in a *Batman* simulator.

looks like a brawler to me. You break people’s asses and thats it. That could work with a multiplayer, to me
having said that, I absolutely dont care

“looks like a brawler to me.”
It’s as much a brawler as Tench was.
As in: Not.
The footage everyone is talking about here was a challenge map, not the main gameplay.
