EA just officially announced Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online.

The game is a browser-based affair, and will launch with “several world class championship courses”, including Pebble Beach, TPC Sawgrass and St Andrews. More are promised in the fullness of time.

As reported earlier, the title will replace disc version for PC and Mac.

Price? Expect a “multi-tiered subscription” model. It’s out this autumn.

    To be honest, this sounds like the ideal format for this kind of game. Perfect for a couple o’ holes over lunch. Without actually leaving the office and risking exposure to the ‘real world’.

    Depends on the sub price really and whether they will stop farming out annual updates or not…

    However, one’s got to acknowledge that EA may have found their “WoW” cow ;)

    This is the beginning of the end for gaming consoles.

    Browsers are the future. Perhaps we will have consoles that act as PC’s however.
