Keighley: Heavy Rain to release “next year”

Tuesday, 26th May 2009 10:21 GMT By Patrick Garratt

GTTV’s Geoff Keighley, during an interview with Havy Rain’s producer, has said that the Quantic Dreams thriller is to release “next year”.

Watch this at about 19 minutes.

The game was first shown at Games Convention in 2008 and pegged as a 2009 release.

Sony’s declined to comment on the matter, saying only that the PS3 exclusive has no fixed date.

Thanks, Eurogamer.

Hopefully this will give them more time to actually show us something a bit more exciting about this game. All i’ve seen so far is some badly written lines and not-so-great voice acting.

I am liking the way the game handles the QTE icons though, very cool.

Quantic are notorious for taking forever to actually finish anything. I’m kind of curious about this still, but the videos from last week weren’t quite as interesting as I was expecting, tbh.

This news increases the likelihood of us seeing GoW3 or (more likely) GT5 this year, I’d say.

So probably a good thing. :D

I find the blanket coverage of this likely-to-be horrifically stunted shambles of ‘cinematic narrative’, ‘believable, emotional virtual characters’ and outright QTE wankfestery to be somewhat offensive.

    What’s lined up for 2010 :

    Heavy Rain
    Trico (Rumoured)
    GT5 (Let’s face it)
    Conservative Government (Let’s face it)

[sits and waits for GoW3 to be delayed]

Guess I might as well put my PS3 back in the cupboard until 2010 then…

GoW 3 doesn’t need to be delayed to get released next year… Nor does GT5.

Oh god… not here. The flag waving fanboys are bad enough without getting the political faithful involved. :D

Bah, didn’t realise that GoW3 was 2010 already.

Oh well, there’s still Uncharted 2 and all the multi-plat stuff…
