PC version of Red Faction: Guerrilla pushed into August

The PC version of Red Faction: Guerrilla has been pushed back and will now release on August 25.
This is according to the official GameStop website, which of course, does not list a reason for the delay.
PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are still scheduled for a June 2 release, so no worries there.
We’ve contacted THQ for clarification and we’ll let you know when we get a response.

Wasn’t the PC version always going to be coming a couple of months later? At the very least the last copy of Edge listed it separately as August and one of the captions reads:
“The PC edition of the game is two months behind console. The longer wait, Volition promises, will mean a customisable control scheme, a vastly superior lighting model, DirectX 10 support and a higher framerate.”

Yes Aimless, it was always gonna be a bit behind. However, since the other versions were moved up, we are just curious why the same cannot be said for the PC version. Just take it as us trying to get as much information for you as possible.:-)

Oh I wasn’t questioning your diligence, I just assumed this was ‘known’. I’d actually forgotten the console versions were brought forward.
Of course RF:G was mentioned on the last Listen UP (1UP Yours) podcast and they didn’t even know there was a PC version despite going to an event for the game, so…

The 2 websites that hate pc gaming is gamespot and 1up. Gamespot is known to have a huge population of pc gamers at that.

@Aimless: yeah, the DX10 elements usually merit a longer development time because the current range of PC graphics cards are still capable of lighting and shadow effects that the consoles aren’t. So unless you want a game to look shitty alongside more PC-biased games, you’re going to put a little more spit and polish into it.
@Gigz: Oh, absolutely, I know what you meant. Those ‘cool kids’ definitely have gone the way of the console.
The PC still has Valve, who consider the PC as their primary development platform, and anyone who’s putting out a serious FPS or RPG is going to put it out on the PC too. We also still own the market on casual and more intelligent (such as strategy) games, and we have an incredible indie development faction. The PC is the gaming vanguard, as it was and always will be.
The bonus is that now I never have to listen to anyone call anyone else a fag or faggot, because all the ‘cool kids’ have gone to consoles (almost exclusively the XBox). Games like TF2 are getting better and better all the time, and actually have people in it that know how to communicate and talk without cussing out someone and their mother, look at that!
Good riddance, ‘cool kids’, Live can have you.
While the PC has the smart gamer kids and adults, the PC at the moment is undergoing the golden age that people have dreamed about for years. All that needs to happen is for World of Warcraft to come out for the XBox so we can get rid of the last of the undesirable, cussing, loutish hicks.
You know you want to, Blizzard. Please?
