Microsoft to announce TV-related 360 partnership on May 28

Microsoft just sent out UK invites to the “announcement of a very special partnership, sure to keep TV fans glued to Xbox LIVE”.
The graphic just issued includes the words “experience the revolution”.
The event is to take place in London on May 28, next Thursday.
More soon, hopefully.

Oh, so perhaps they are going to transform the way we think about home entertainment…

BBC iPlayer perhaps?

Was just gonna say iPlayer….although that wouldn’t really be a “revolution” considering that it’s already on the Wii, PS3, Virgin, iPhone, etc…
Maybe they’re doing a Sony and announcing a PlayTV equivalent or something.

I wonder if it might be something to do with XBL Primetime.

Lovefilm would be interesting.
@SilentLoner – Primetime, the live 360 gameshow channel thing. 1 vs 100 etc. http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-1-vs-100-beta/17-555/

Or maybe the BT Vision tie-in that was announced in January 2008 will finally be surfacing… Only 9 months late!

I know what it is, I think. Just working on a story.

I think if it was lovefilm it’d say ‘movie’ fans rather than ‘tv’ fans.
They need something like iplayer. It kicks ass on the ps3 and looks fine even on a 32 inch LCD. And the hd iplayer is due on ps3 soon. I don’t really use my PVR any more.
I wish sony would get on with sorting out film for europe, lovefilm get on my tits but it’s the only option I’ve got.

I doubt it will be 1 Vs 100 as I expected that to be either in the US first, or something like a WorldWide launch at E3.
iPlayer is a possibility and would be quite cool, but I think it’ll be the launch of a proper video store for the UK like they have in the US, e.g. with TV shows and stuff as well as movies.

I’ve been told it’s the BT IPTV thing.

iPlayer wouldn’t be particularly interesting to me as I use my Virgin box for it. Still, would be nice for others.
Edit – @Pat… PHAIL. Unless it means they’ve got a quieter, slimline box going out to support it. I never thought they could use the original 360 for IPTV simply because it’s not quiet enough. Maybe they’ve let BT design their own (Yeah, right
)

Well that’s not particularly interesting for non-BT customers, which is a hell of a lot of people these days.

Oh no, does this mean we’re going to get more of those stupid BT adverts with whatshername from Waking The Dead and whatisname from My Family?

It would be nice if 10% of services you have mentioned worked in Poland. We don’t even have Xbox Live officially….

I can’t believe that I might be right (for once)!
Although given some of the writeups of the BT Vision system (http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-cinema/review/2009/04/29/BT-Vision/p1) I’d hope it’s not as big of a fuck up. I mean, 7 hours to download an HD film (with no way to start watching until it’s fully downloaded).. that’s taking the piss.

I can’t see why MS would allow that. Especially given how good their own delivery is for HD stuff.
I hope they won’t, anyway :S

@reask: Depends on the fans they use. They basically have three different models of fan they switch between… and only one of those is particularly quiet.

Yep, January 2008!
@ Psychotext
Really? My launch 360 is practically silent unless your running a disc, which obviously you won’t be if your watching TV…

@OwningXylophone: Was the same story with the originals, they’ve always used the same three types of fan. They switched mostly to the louder ones with faster airflow when 360s started melting all over the place.
