Microsoft: “June 2009 will be an important month for Zune lovers… hold off from buying an iPhone/Pre”

Oh, sweet jeepers. Via its Office 2010 Twitter account, Microsoft has told people to “hold off from buying an iPhone/Pre” and that “June 2009 will be an important month for Zune lovers”.
Let’s do some amazing detective work. E3 is in June. iPhone and Pre are phone products. Zune could be a phone if Microsoft put a phone in one. Miss Marple says Microsoft may announce a Zune game-phone at E3.
Might not, obviously. Might, though. We’re guessing at “might”.
Thanks, Engadget.

Sounds like it. Also I’d then guess Live link via Zune and MS entering handhelds via the Apple route (phone, media and games).

Xphone. Here it comes! Windows mobile, Microsoft’s awesome track record with building gaming hardware and the Zune marketplace all rolled into one bulbous clusterfuck. Add Jeremy Beadle with a strap-on and you’ve just described hell itself.

If true no doubt there will be a Community Games-esque service so that people can whack out whether they’ve made using XNA whilst only being moderated by their peers. In other words anything of worth will be lost in a sea of xFarts.

I always thought MS would enter the handheld market at some point but didn’t expect this route. I guess they have learned a lot from the success of the iPhone.

Hmm xphone it looks like then, they always said there would be no zune phone so this was there plan, makes sense after MS said the zune would migrate to other platforms.
I suppose all’s thats left to wonder is it a casual games device ala iPhone or a PSP2 device trying to do both casual/core games.

At this point, if PSP or Zune is trying to compete, it’s a waste of time.
Has Microsoft even got their toe dipped in the mobile phone market? I thought it was strange enough for Apple to do it.

Hey, maybe they’ve remembered announcing Live Anywhere. It’s a game late, but finally you’ll be able to design Forza liveries on the go! VelocityGirl will be pleased.

The palm pre, probably has the best touch screen interface I’ve ever seen demo’d. If they included a micro sdhc slot it’d easily be one of the best smart phones of the year.

Erm… Do you mean Hardware or in general? because Windows Mobile has been sold on millions of mobile phones for years!

@freedoms_stain
Just looked up some vids on YouTube. Seems to be one of the first other manufacturers to get what Apple did with the iPhone. A lot of it is about the interface and use. The Palm Pre looks really nice though – whilst adding some of the techy features the iPhone lacks (decent multitasking for one).
I want to see who nabs SWYPE first. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCWwuIXxBuI

Sort-of interestingly, Apple have their annual WWDC in June, and lots of people are expecting new iPhone hardware / features to be announced. Wonder if that’s much of a coincidence…

So the Zune finally gets a touch screen? I love my 80 GB one and would probably purchase a second one given an opportunity…

That SWYPE thing looks cool, but I’ve seen teenagers writing text messages and the speed of SWYPE looks positively pedestrian in comparison.

You’d think by this point that news sites would start ignoring twitter.
