Livingstone: Next Tomb Raider will contain “remarkable things”

Monday, 11th May 2009 07:45 GMT By Patrick Garratt

Eidos chief Ian Livingstone’s teased the next Tomb Raider for the first time, saying the game is to “reinvigorate” the IP after a lukewarm Underworld reception.

“The next Tomb Raider, I think, will surprise a lot of people and reinvigorate the franchise,” he said, talking to GamingIndians.

“There are some remarkable things we’re doing in the next Tomb Raider to make you say, ‘Oh Lara, I love you so much!’”

We’re willing to bet you a huge amount of money it doesn’t make us say that, Ian.

There’s no other detail as yet. More soon, hopefully.

@ Blerk: that is quite literally the most vile comment I’ve read so far this year.

    cracked me up though…

Why after reading that do I get left with the feeling that somewhere in Ian Livingstone’s house (kept waaaaay out of sight) there is a lifesize cardboard promotional display of Lara with improvised ‘realistic’ orifices?

Unless this next game involves Lara done up the wrong ‘un by pirates – NO SALE

Wasn’t Underworld the surprising entry that was supposed to reinvigorate the franchise?

@ hitnrun: indeed it was, it is actually a pretty decent adventure too imo. There are some real dud levels but it also features some of the most genuinely enjoyable segments the series has had to offer so far…

Exactly, didn’t they say the same about Underworld!? Which was a pretty average game, IMO!
