GT5 to have “rain and night,” damage “soon”

Monday, 11th May 2009 09:33 GMT By Patrick Garratt

While it’s hardly the most revelatory news in the world, in a mini-documentary about the relationship between the Audi R8 and Gran Turismo 5, creator Kazanori Yamauchi has confirmed the game will have weather effects and night racing.

The developer also said that the hilariously-delayed damage model, which was supposed to have been applied to GT5 Prologue a great many moons ago, will happen “soon”.

There’s a translation of the interview on the EG forums.

Instead of Eurogame forum, which is always filled with fanboys and their hate, for GT news, there’s nothing better than:

Gran Turismo: the new Duke Nukem Forever?

I’m glad I have no interest in the series, otherwise I’d probably hold much resentment towards my PS3 by now.

The only problem with this is that Polyphony have a very different definition of the word soon to other people. Apparently damage was coming to GT5: Prologue “very, very soon”… That was said in March 2008. ;)

Well, it takes time to accurately calculate how the metallic paint of tuned Lotus Elise is affected if it is hit by a Ferrari F50 going 200km/h. ^.^

Sorry Polyphony. I couldn’t care less any more.

You can only pricktease for so long until people lose interest.

@ Psyhcotext – Yeah, but you can literally throw money at them to get what you want if its national priapism week or something.

Pity the same can’t be said of Polyphony. I’d drybum Yamauchi just out of spite if that were the case.

It wouldn’t be the same without endless “Coming soon” news. :)

you have to wonder are Polyphony the right team to be making GT any more, they made a great game in GT1 and improved upon it greatly for GT2 but since then they seem to have gone a bit mental, parts of games, prologues and promises, why does it take them so long to do anything?
