Resident Evil 5 breaks 4 million, SFIV 2 million

residentevil511

Resident Evil 5 has now sold more than 4 million units on a global level, Capcom just confirmed.

Street Fighter IV’s no slouch either – the game’s through the 2 million mark, the company said today.

PSP’s Monster Hunter Freedom 2G also helped Capcom along in the past year, rounding off a trio of products that’s given the publisher record revenue for FY2009.

The news comes as part of Capcom’s full-year figures release. Details here.

Capcom clearing up on the HD consoles this generation. Don’t think they’ve had a flop on the 360 / PS3 yet have they?

How many sales did Lost Planet do? It was of ‘flop quality’ atleast…

Lost Planet on the PS3 was a bit of FLOP…poor sales and a poor port.

I’m sure Lost Planet did pretty well for it’s original release on the Xbox 360 though. They’ve managed to do well enough to establish it as another IP and they also released Colonies on 360 so I’d reason they’d be pretty happy with it thus far.

Lost Planet 2 actually looks very good graphically. Really impressed with the gameplay vids they’ve released.

Lost Planet was a poor port and suffered accordingly. The fact PS3 owners felt they’d been made to wait for no good reason didn’t help, and in fact may have had even more to do with it – considering a good Bioshock port didn’t do too well as a result with most PS3 forums knocking the game for arriving so late on the console and at full price.

Really at the moment a solid, equal release on the HD twins is the way to go. Although clearly with Lost Planet 2 we’re still seeing the effects of earlier arrangements between Capcom and MS.

The fact that Lost Planet just sucked probably didnt help either, by the time it was out on PS3 everyone knew how it was.

On one hand, I’m glad RE5 sold so well. On the other, I kinda wanted it to fail so that they’d go back to the old style of Resident Evil.
