Bethesda has “no announced plans” for fourth Fallout 3 DLC

Earlier today, retailers Bountii, eStarland, and MSN Shopping showed pre-order listings for Fallout 3′s upcoming Broken Steel expansion and something called “Point Lookout”.
Rumors started circulating that this was a possible fourth expansion for the title, but Bethesda VP Pete Hines has brushed it off saying there isn’t a fourth expansion.
“We have said there will be three DLCs for Fallout 3, for PC and 360. We’ve released two, and the third, Broken Steel, is scheduled for release Tuesday, May 5th,” he told GamerVision.
“Beyond that we have no announced plans for additional DLC.”
The man has spoken.

I love wordings. He can lie without strictly lying. Just where did the name Point Lookout come from then? Did they retails just make it up. Clearly something is going on but it’s not announced.
The biggest problem here is if they turn around next month and announce DLC called Point Lookout they’ll just look stupid for bold face denying it in the first place.

Wasn’t the 360′s DLC agreement supposed to be for the three announced packs? This might be like the timed exclusivity situation with certain 360 games, where all they said was “no PS3 version has been announced” until they announced it, and this is multiformat DLC that they won’t talk about at all until a specific time.
Or it could be a bigger, disc-based expansion, I suppose, which wouldn’t technically be DLC at all.

I’m pretty sure it wont be a disc-based expansion like Shivering Isle as Bethesda recently commented that micro (horsey bling) and giant (SI) weren’t right, and that Knights of the Nine size is what they wanted to target, hence the F3 DLC being medium sized chunks.
I’d love to see a full sized addon though, SI was the best work in Oblivion tbh.

I doubt it will be disc-based too, I’m just considering the ways in which that comment can be interpreted. Either it really is as simple as being DLC they haven’t announced, or it’s not technically DLC in some way.
Either way, with all this DLC and New Vegas next year Fallout seems to be working out pretty well for them.

I’m skeptical of New Vegas making it out next year. I just feel in my bones a delay in that game.

It’ll be DLC, but also disc based. They’re releasing Anchorage and The Pitt on disc, as a double pack, and they’ll release Broken Steel and Point Lookout as a double pack.

Well, that’s another E3 announcement scuppered.
