goldenjoystick

Voting for the 27th Annual Golden Joystick Awards has gone live.

Starting today, you can head on over to the official website and cast your vote for your favorite games.

Every 100,000th vote will win a prize so that should give you more incentive.

Last year, over 856,262 votes were cast and the big winner was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, walking away with four Awards.

More through the link.

If it’s anything like last year they’ll keep adding categories all the time so you have to fanny about voting. I’d rather just not bother if it’s all the same.

Does any gamer even care about game awards? Surely its a more worthwhile story to show the fickleness of any awards show in the games industry. I cant thing of a figure-head of gaming awards in comparison of the film-awards in comparison of the oscars, berlin or cannes film awards. I’m pretty sure for any gamer geeks that frequently visits sites like these, must constantly feel disdain for the majority of what games win these awards.

But for a new generation for a media like videogames to come into where can such a prestigious awards programme come from? With the introduction of the internet the boom of videogame magazines hava decreased into mainly official demo fronted proganda advertisements (like that sentence to my point).

But anyway there seems too much concern to profit and marketing to truely award videogames for their true merit. Imagine those outsider games like, Ico, SotC, Madworld, Godhand, Okami, the LucasArts Adventures, and much more but I’m stuck within the developers I love.

But imagine there was a respected games award at the time lucas arts were making there great point and click games, theres no other winner to dialogue than when they were at thier prime. But there was no such awards and interest drained and the games dissappeared and I’m still fucking pissed off. Bring them back, you bastards, and start buying them you pricks who buy games, but seriously imagined where we actually had a games awards ceremony that every developer/publisher around thought, lets push this game this bit further because we want to win these Runcle’s!

‘I haven’t patented the “Runcle’s” yet but any company wishing to present a company in the name of the “Runcle’s” in the name of games awards are happy to do so.’
