Assassin’s Creed 2 teaser goes live, Da Vinci style suggests Italy may feature

Ubi’s put an Assassin’s Creed 2 teaser site live, as you can see here.
There’s lots of Da Vinci-esque imagery going on. All very Italian indeed. There’s something called “Animus” mentioned there.
And if that image of the man with the wing next to it’s anything to go by, someone’s going flying.
Excited? Watch the cover of the next issue of Game Informer.
Thanks, Destructoid.

Konami to release game based on 2004 Fallujah battle

Konami’s announced Six Days in Fallujah, a third-person tactical shooter based on 2004′s battle for the Iraqi city that left 38 US soldiers and 1,200 opposition forces dead, according to this LA Times report.
American developer Atomic Games is developing the title, which will release in 2010.
Said Atomic boss Peter Tamte: “For us, the challenge was, ‘How do you present the horrors of war in a game that is also entertaining, but also gives people insight into a historical situation in a way that only a video game can provide?’
“Our goal is to give people that insight, of what it’s like to be a Marine during that event, what it’s like to be a civilian in the city and what it’s like to be an insurgent.”
There’s tons more through there. Thanks, GamePolitics.

Raven: Wolfenstein is “not a WWII game”

Wolfenstein creative director Eric Biessman has told VG247 that Wolfenstein isn’t just another WWII shooter. In fact, according to the developer, it’s not a WWII game at all.
We said: “Why should we be excited? This is just another ‘spooky’ WWII FPS, right?”
Eric said: “There’s a lot to be excited about in Wolfenstein! The core gameplay of Wolfenstein is based on fast-action, visceral combat and heavy-duty firepower. Looking deeper at the game, you see that it’s set in a very compelling universe. While the game is set in WWII, it’s not a WWII game – that’s like saying the Indiana Jones movies are WWII movies.
“Dark science and strange occult mysteries combine to create larger than life characters, weaponry and enemies. This also lets us stray outside the realm of reality to create compelling game play – we don’t have to have realistic enemies and weapons, we can do things just for the sake of being fun and exciting. It really opened a lot of creative doors for us.
“When we started development of the game we asked ourselves, ‘What if?’ What if the Nazis had access to an unlimited power source? What if the Nazis could create beam weapons? What if the Nazis could create suits of powered armour? It was pretty cool to imagine the possibilities and see them come to life in Wolfenstein.”
The un-WWII shooter’s out for PC, 360 and PS3 this summer.

Stargate MMO – “It should be happening now if it was happening”

This doesn’t look hopeful. An executive producer of the Stargate TV series has insinuated that the licensed Cheyenne Mountain Stargate Worlds MMO is a dead duck, saying its failure to appear is “a terrible shame”.
Brad Wright, who also worked as creative consultant on the title, was questioned on the game’s status by the GateWorld fansite.
“We don’t know,” he said. “It’s a shame. If it doesn’t happen – and, let’s be honest, it should be happening now if it was happening – it’s a shame. It’s a terrible shame.”
Wright added: “They had an opportunity and they got our support, and they obviously had significant funding, and it didn’t happen.”
Whoops. More on EG.
