Rumour: Witcher cancelled for consoles

thewitcher81

Polish site Polygamia is rumouring that CD Projekt’s Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf has been canned.

We’ve put a call into Atari, but Joystiq, Kotaku and Shacknews have all had no comments on the matter from CD Projekt.

A thread over on the game’s official forum has drawn a response from a community manager, saying only that, “We will comment on this in official release soon.”

That doesn’t sound especially hopeful.

More soon.

Hmm, curious. Witcher did well on the PC and has a ‘buzz’ about it. Seems like it would have been a good decision to stick it on the consoles…

This is strange news indeed.

Nobody cares!

If ‘buzz’ is a complete lack of news, then yes, that’s what it had, buzz…

As the article states, no gaming news sites are even running the “news”.

By Buzz I mean that it has sold a shedload on PC… twice. People still play the game and it’s very much in the gaming consciousness.

warlock – Just cause You dont care.. doesnt mean that NOBODY cares.

I liked the original Witcher so much I ordered the uncensored import, only to wonder what was so naughty about it that the content could not be included in the “clean” version. Oh well, it’s still money well spent imo.

It’s not about “Oh oh, we don’t want to make this game”.
CD Projekt is losing lately a LOOOOOOT of money. I know that, because i live in Poland.
Whole company may even… simply die. I hope it won’t and that everything will turn all right.

For the sake of all the folks who work there I hope you’re wrong ww3pl.

Shite news about the game anyway, I was holding out for the console version after the original demo didn’t run too well on my PC (this old PC gamer long since jumped the upgrade train). Seems they’d been trying to stir up interest recently too, and now one wonders whether there was more to that than just the build up to release :(

Techland is still alive.
But… DIOsoft? Is it even polish? They’ve made like 2 games. Anyway, i think they’re dead.
