The first trailer of Namco RPG Magna Carta 2′s after the break. The game formed part of the Microsoft Japan spring showcase this morning.

Developed by Softmax, the title hits Japan on August 6.

Thanks, Siliconera.

“magnacarta2.jpg” needs to be corrected to “lostodyssey.jpg”

I’m interested to see how this game pans out, if only because of it’s status and development period.

The drawn artwork in the original game was amazing. Going by that trailer it doesn’t appear to have translated to their in-engine characters though. Shame.

Changed it. I can’t find any screens of the sequel, only scans. That’s art from the original.

The first game’s artwork screamed “Vagrant Story” to me, which is always a good thing. Going by the reviews though it was fairly mediocre.

Still – very, very glad to see some new JRPGs in the works.

Looks reasonable, but… I dunno. The Japanese have still got a long way to go on their character models, unfortunately. Everything’s still looking like a slightly higher-poly PS2 game.

Geki – It’s not big enough.

Microsoft are making good inroads on the RPG market, they obviously see the genre as one they have to crack to win over ex-PS2 owners.

Personally I’m happy to stick to PC for the moment, but the 360 might just be gaining the edge for me. I had been planning to get a PS3 1st then a 360 later, but it might now make more sense to get a 360 first and get a PS3 when the price drops.
