Watch Andy Dick’s voice-over session for PAIN

Ever fancied the thought of grabbing a hold of Andy Dick and flinging him far and wide? Who hasn’t.
Posted below the break is a video of Andy performing voice clips for his character in Sony’s PAIN. Not only will his likeness appear, but his character, Daphne Aguilera, will make an appearance as well. Too bad it’s not his Marylin Manson character instead.
Thanks, Kotaku.

It’s coming to PC, consoles and handhelds, although a release date hasn’t been given.
Screenshots, a trailer and more information are promised soon.

Resident Evil 5 outsells entire UK singles chart at debut

Since it launched last Friday, Resident Evil 5′s outsold the entire UK top 200 singles chart combined, Capcom said today.
in addition, the title outsold U2’s latest album’s British sales since release in one weekend.
No figures were supplied with any of this, unfortunately.
The publisher went as far as to say the game’s sales prove the medium is now Britain’s favoured form of entertainment.
“This is proof if any were needed that games are THE entertainment medium of choice in 2009,” said Capcom UK’s Leo Tan.
“Thanks to its strong storyline, amazing graphics and compelling co-op play, Resident Evil 5 provides hundreds of hours of entertainment at a relatively low cost – and it’s this value for money that consumers are increasingly responding to.”
Press release after the break.

Museum dedicated to the history of electronic games opens

A museum dedicated to the history of electronic games opened today inside the Strong National Museum of Play.
It’s “the only museum anywhere devoted solely to the study and interpretation of play,” apparently.
The museum houses 15,000 game-related items, every major console since the Magnavox Odyssey and some are even playable. How many of you can say you had one of those?
An exhibit called “Videotopia” runs from May 30 – November 1 showcasing arcade games.

Watch bossy Lisa Kudrow in Professor Layton TV spot

Lisa Kudrow has already been seen in DS TV spots for Cooking Mama, so the fact she’s now appearing in one for Professor Layton and the Curious Village is no real shock.
She seems rather bossy in it. We feel a bit bad for her friend.
Watch it after the break.

Nintendo brings Rhythm Heaven by the MTV offices

Nintendo stopped by the MTV offices recently and brought along its upcoming DSi/DS game, Rhythm Heaven.
You can witness Stephen Totilo’s humiliation after the jump. It’s followed by actual gameplay footage once you get past all the yelling. Not much of it though.
Game’s out April 5 for DS.
If this is any indication of the game, you will be annoying your neighbors in no time. Maybe that’s the point.

Rumor: Cryptic using City of Heroes to recruit for Champions beta

Oh dear. Over on f13.net, a post claims that City of Heroes players have been contacted via private in-game messaging and the forums by Cryptic asking if they would like to join the Champions Online beta.
Following up, Massively found a post on the City of Heroes website stating:
“It is unfortunate that people do this… but we also recognize and accept the fact that ultimately, we do not have control over the messages our customers with valid accounts send one another. Although we cannot stop someone from initially communicating with you – whether it be RMT (real money transaction) related, another game company trying to lure you to their competing product, or general spamming…we are in a position to investigate the situation (and potentially take action) once a solicitation has occurred, for it is a direct violation of our Rules of Conduct and EULA (End User License Agreement).”
Remember: rumor.

inFamous shots show a strange monster of sorts

Shacknews has some new inFamous screens up.
There’s only two, but you’re gluttons for this game apparently. That’s the reason Sony and Sucker Punch keep sending out trailers and pretty pictures.
Most interesting one has some sort of monster with a guy inside.
Not sure what’s up with that. Guess we’ll find out come June.

Uncharted 2: Naughty Dog talks snow and ice game mechanics, shows new shots

In its last outing with Uncharted, Naughty Dog was praised by critics over the realism of the water mechanics. The firm is hoping the same will be true with dynamic weather in the sequel.
Speaking in an interview with IGN, co-designer Richard Lemarchand said Drake will have to deal with some major weather patterns in the game.
“One thing I will say is that if you’ve ever tried to fight an intense cover-based gun battle against a vicious enemy in the middle of a Force Ten snowstorm, then you’ll appreciate how complicated the reduced visibility can make things for combatants on both sides,” he said.
“We’ve spent a lot of time focused on the distinctive look that snow has as it falls and is blown by the wind, and of course on the way in which Drake leaves footprints as he trudges through the snowdrifts in the Himalayan mountains that he ventures to.When he’s out in the snow he’ll accumulate a layer of snowflakes on his clothes and in his hair, which will slowly thaw when he gets back inside under cover.”
Read the full thing through here, and look over the new screens while you’re at it.

The action RPG’s shaping up nicely. There’s tons of detail on how the character was included in the game through the link.
There’s no date – or platforms – on it as yet. Don’t expect to wait too long for further info, though.

Blow’s next game “different in almost every way from Braid”

Braid developer Jon Blow has told UK mag Total PC Gaming that his next project will be a complete departure from his time-bending smash.
“I’ve got a lot of projects that I’m always thinking about, and I’ve got one that I’ve started that’s very different in almost every way from Braid,” he said.
Despite Blow’s apparent desire to get away from Braid, the game’s been good to its creator.
“[Braid has] made more money for me than if I had been working in a high-paying job for all the time I was developing the game,” he said.
“It has been very profitable.”

Vin Diesel “begged” for Dark Athena multiplayer

Vin Diesel’s told G4 that he “begged” for online multiplay to be included in Assault on Dark Athena.
He begged. He probably cried a bit too.
The actor told the TV station that the game was well into production as a single-player-only entity, but Vin put his foot down on the subject of a multiplayer component at the eleventh hour.
See the video after the break. The game’s out on April 24.
Thanks, Kotaku.

GameStop to reach $2 billion in sales this year says analyst

Lazard analyst Colin Sebastian has said that the used game market could provide $2 billion in sales for GameStop this year.
Sebastian added that Gamestop’s used game sales were unlikely to be badly affected by Amazon’s intentions on the space.
“While Amazon’s recent entry into the trade-in market remains an overhang on shares, we believe there will be limited impact on GameStop’s business,” he said.
“In contrast, Amazon’s offering is likely to have more appeal to ‘non-core gamers,’ or those consumers more likely to trade games in exchange for Amazon.com credit toward purchases in any product category.”
More on Gama.
