I have not own a 360, because i saw my brother go through 3 of them already. I did have a xbox, and it was pretty good.
360 not so much.

My Nan went through 18 360s.

I find if you only read every 7th word in O’conner’s posts you uncover a hidden message containing details about global disasters – past, present and ….dramatic pause…. future.

And as I have stated a dozen times already, the 360′s failing have nothing to do with the argument about the PS3′s forced installations and why they are required, which you continue to ignore despite being provided with the technical specifications of the hardware and words from the mouths of developers and tech experts themselves.

Yes, Final Fantasy XIII likely will have multiple discs on the Xbox 360. The resolution of the textures might even be lower. Yes, the technically superior version probably *will* be on the PS3, and it very likely that the PS3 version will be the version of the game I will rent / buy.

But so what? If having to change a disc is such a big fucking deal that it defines your choice of console to buy it on, the problem isn’t with the game; it’s with your own lazy ass.

4GB of hard-drive space on the other hand, is a much bigger deal. That’s a few hundred songs. That’s a dozen TV shows. That’s thousands and thousands of pictures. That’s a half dozen games from the PlayStation Store.

If the game doesn’t require a HDD install, I’ll be buying it for the PS3. If it does, I’ll be buying it for the Xbox 360.

The entire hardware, from a pure construction point, was extremely fragile in its original run. The RRoD can occur because of the most insignificant failing occurrence in the machine’s hardware architecture.

Newer models are thankfully more reliable, but its still a problem. It’s a bit like the Blue Screen of Death; it occurred because of very insignificant problems in the old version of Windows, like a driver temporarily not loading. Newer versions just ignore them completely instead of throwing a hissy at the smallest error.

The Red Ring of Death is just an over-sensitive security measure. It locks you out of using the machine over the smallest discrepancies, which is frankly retarded, and the one who gets screwed over because of it is the consumer.

My Xbox 360 has not broken down in the two years I’ve owned it. If it does, I can get it replaced free of charge with a newer, more reliable model.

I know someone with a PS3 whose machine broke down a few weeks after the warranty ran out. They had it only over a year. They had to pay to get it repaired.

I can take my hard-drive out of my Xbox 360 without invalidating my warranty. I can’t with my PS3 (at least not in Europe, I don’t know what the situation is for the rest of the world).

My data is more important than the device it is stored on.
