Resident Evil 5 takes second week at top of UK chart

Resident Evil 5 is the UK’s number one for a second week in a row, Chart-Track said today.
Looks as though World at War’s had its chips. GTA: Chinatown Wars debuted at number six.
Data for the week ending March 21. Last week’s chart here.

Gosh, number 6 for GTA:CTW is pretty poor going.

Was always a risk, innit. They’ve pushed it pretty hard on TV, as well.

Lets all call it a failure because it never got to #1.

I guess there are few DS owners who are into that sort of games or even old enough to play them.

Well, was at least expecting it be the top DS game of the week. But looks like Professor Layton is the king of DS.

Looks like Killzone 2 truly was a one week wonder.

Two week wonder.

I’d say a WWE game beating a brand new GTA title is a pretty clear indication that “core” franchises may have difficulty on DS.

G1GAHURTZ , Killzone2 is still on the top in Finland, Norway and other EU countries.

The fact that Chart Track reckon GTA:CTW’s first week only shifted half as many copies as Vice City Stories on the PSP did speaks volumes. How many more DSes than PSPs are there?
Of course, DS games can have legs, whereas PSP games… don’t have any legs at all. So it may all come good yet. But I’m suspecting it’s not going to be a Layton.

I see MadWorld only made number 34, too.

Yeah, I was only speaking in terms of the UK.

I’m not so surprised at the MadWorld fiasco. But I really thought GTA would fare better. Especially wtr to post no 10.

Doing the chart run-down for the EG forums, I’ve just noticed that Resistance Retribution completely failed to chart too.

Maybe once word of mouth gets out at how good GTA is it’ll pick up? It’s a damn fine game and much more suited to the system than the jamming of a PS2 game onto the PSP, as much as I liked the Stories titles.

I just think DS’s are bought and then just left on a shelf to gather dust.

Retribution failing to chart is a crying shame. Its actually a really fucking good game.

I gave my wife a DS. She played Brain Training on it about five times. It’s sat in its box in a dresser.

Whereas my wife is practically wrestling the DS off of my son at every available opportunity. Poor lad. I might have to buy her one of her own.

I’ve not seen a single TV ad for Chinatown Wars. Where’s it been shown?
@cripplehooba – the DS has loads of really good games, particularly if you’re not import-averse. Mine’s my most-used console, just ahead of my 360.

I only ever watch TV late at night. E4, etc.

Isn’t it not obvious why GTA didn’t chart any higher? This game is suited to an male 15+.. yes? I bet most of them own a R4 card or something similar.
I think this is the game which shows how much piracy is affecting ‘real’ DS games.
Pat: I’ve not seen any TV ads for GTA:CTW either tbh..

“Looks as though World at War’s had its chips.”
Only six weeks to VE Day. Maybe that’ll bump it back up the charts…
And then VJ Day two months after that!

Really pleased for RE5.
