The tester was openly released in Europe last week.

Those Americans that get the demo will be awarded a “Lordy Hairpiece”.

    Yeah, that’s right…

You can’t actually see if this game’s worth buying or not unless you’re actually going to buy it first!

    #1 6 years ago
  2. Blerk

This is such a completely bizarre idea, I really can’t get to grips with it. Surely the whole point of a demo is to sell the game to people who aren’t already wanting to buy it? What possible purpose does restricting the demo to people who already know that they want the game serve?

    #2 6 years ago
  3. Retroid

    #3 6 years ago
  4. Psychotext

    Utterly ludicrous.

    #4 6 years ago
  5. JonFE

Further to what Blerk says, these artificial restrictions could very well convince some lost souls to “demo” the game through other, not legitimate methods…

On an unrelated note, why are the US getting this game so late? I have my copy on my desk next to me…

    #5 6 years ago
  6. Shatner

Yes… because that’s exactly the same as a demo actually being available, but only to people who have already bought the game.

There are many reasons that a developer might decide against releasing a demo.

For example, they might have been ‘crunching’ for the last few months before release and simply decided to focus what little dev time they have left on the game, rather than a demo.

They might not be convinced about the quality of the game, and so not put a demo out because of the negative reaction that they are expecting.

They might (some might say arrogantly) decide that there is enough marketing hype around the game that it doesn’t need a demo, because people will buy it anyway.

But to release a demo, whose sole purpose is for people to evaluate the quality of their game, and then say that nobody is allowed to evaluate the quality of their game unless they decide to buy it, doesn’t make sense.

Obviously they are trying to give some sort of incentive for pre-orders, but they’ve chosen the wrong incentive.

It’s like a car manufacturer saying: ‘you can test drive our latest model, but only if you agree to buy it first’.

    #16 6 years ago
  17. Syrok

‘you can test drive our latest model, but only if you agree to buy it first’.

    Is it seriously that easy?

Why are they putting this condition then?

    #27 6 years ago
  28. Psychotext

Well… that certainly goes a long way to explaining those 22m PSN users. :D

But yeah, everyone should create three accounts on PSN by default. If only to get access to two marketplaces where they had the presence of mind to actually group the demos in one place.

At the end of the day, whether it actually is or not. Sony say that the demo is NOT free, and the official line is that it’s “EXCLUSIVE” to those who pre-order. Simple as that.

So Sony are ‘taking advantage’ of people who don’t know how to play the system. Which is probably the vast majority. I certainly wouldn’t have tried without someone telling me how easy it was.

I think a fair and impartial person would at least aknowledge this.

    I wouldn’t expect a troll to though.

Phil, you’re so BAD at feigning ignorance.

As has already been discussed above, if you download this demo, and you live in the US, and you LIE, by pretending to live in Europe, when you don’t, you’ve broken the terms of your PSN contract.

That means that you have LIED in order to acquire software that the SOFTWARE DEVELOPER doesn’t want you to have.

There is no difference between this, and LYING to install an ILLEGAL piece of software.

This demo is NOT free to those who do not have a legitimate reason to have a European account.

Besides, I think that any rational person will find that it was me who made the first comment here.

It was YOU who “WADED” in trying to DEFEND your BELOVED SONY by feebly attempting to mention an ms exclusive.

More dodging, as the SUPER FAIL TROLL refuses to accept that his BELOVED Sony DON’T WANT PEOPLE IN THE US TO HAVE THIS DEMO FOR FREE.

They don’t want people to have it, and by telling people to do it, YOU ARE MAKING THEM LOSE whatever money they might have put into setting up this deal.

The demo is NOT FREE IN THE US.

The decision to make the demo only available to people who pre-order the game is STUPID. LIKE YOU.

You FAIL at trying to BACK TRACK and create a pathetic DIVERSION from your STUPIDITY.

You came in here to TROLL and defend your BELOVED SONY from negative comments that MORE THAN ONE PERSON was giving.

You are LOW-LIFE SCUM that does nothing but exist to IRRITATE and ANNOY people.

If MS only released a demo on Live for people who’d pre-ordered the game, it’d deserve a Joey.
