Resident Evil 5 tops UK chart on debut

residentevil5a11

No shock whatsoever in the UK chart this week, with Resident Evil 5 taking first place.

Killzone 2′s having reasonable legs, there. Not so true of Halo Wars or Empire, unfortunately.

Last week’s chart here. Thanks, Johnny Cullen.

  1. Resident Evil 5
  2. Wii Fit
  3. HAWX
  4. Professor Layton
  5. Killzone 2
  6. FIFA 09
  7. all of Duty: World at War
  8. Empire: Total War
  9. Halo Wars
  10. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Empire: Total War was a one week wonder.

Quite surprised at the platform split on Resi 5. I expected it to be the other way around.

/neglects to mention that actual figures to prevent thread disaster

Why is the platform split that surprising Blerk? Isn’t the “more action than puzzles” nature of RE5 more suited to the x360 audience?

How is it possible that Wii Fit is still selling so well?

Played it a lot over the weekend, and it’s great.

Yes, that’s right, I hated RE until RE4. So what? :P

I guess it’s a surprise because I still think of Resi as a Playstation game for some reason, despite it defecting to Nintendo for a bit and stuff. :-)

Wii Fit’s still doing well because there’s a never-ending supply of fatties.

Platform loyalty cannot be trusted nowadays Blerk! Similar thing happened with GTA IV (although the promise of exclusive DLC had its impact) & Devil May Cry and could very well happen with Final Fantasy ;-)

Microsoft included RE5 in a unique boxed sku, including an extra pad, in the UK see: http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/HardwareBundle/~r340406/Xbox-360-Elite-Pack-with-Resident-Evil-5-Extra-Wireless-Controller/ – note, you could only get it that way – with a new 360. I’m guessing that might have helped a bit.
(plus, there are more of their consoles around!)

Bloody smart thing for them to have done, and I’m sure Capcom will have appreciated the extra push.
