New MadWorld trailer is mad

madworlda5

After the break. Protagonist Jack is harder than a “bunch of frat boys at a strip club,” apparently.

To be fair, he is pretty hard. Game’s out for Wii in March in the US. No date for Europe.

Star Trek Online in production for a “full year”

startreka3

A new IGN Star Trek Online preview from Comic Con, based on a chat with the game’s producer, has claimed that the MMO has now been in production for a year.

“The game has been in development for a full year now and, thanks to Cryptic’s advanced technology, is already at a state where the team is playing it on a weekly basis,” says the piece.

Cryptic’s latest, and undoubtedly highest profile project, was announced last year in Las Vegas. Creative lead Jack Emmert failed to put a release date on the game at the time, but said it’s going to be “sooner than you think”.

This year? After a year’s work? Don’t think so.

New Splatterhouse trailer is completely ridiculous

splatterhousea2

Bottle Rocket’s put out a new trailer for the Splatterhouse reboot, and it looks stupid in all the right ways.

The world needs more monster metal horror in videogames, which is just as well.

No date. PS3, 360. After the break.

Battlefield 1943 – The first playtest

battlefield1942a

Kotaku’s got the first proper play details of Battlefield 1943 from Comic Con in New York, and the news is “OK”.

Snip:

I really had no idea what to expect from this game. I was presently surprised to see my favorite online game ever get a much-needed upgrade. The one concern I have is that this won’t seem like a completely new, full Battlefield game. There won’t be as many maps in the final game and the focus on casual play has me worried.

The DICE sequel was announced this week.

Source: Leaked Dead Rising 2 trailer is the real deal

deadrisinglogoa

A supposed shakycam video of Dead Rising 2 has just surfaced on YouTube, and sources close to Capcom have promised us it’s the real thing.

We contacted Capcom to be told by a rep that he had personally not seen this video, but as far as Dead Rising 2 goes, nothing has “officially” been confirmed nor released at this time.

Judge for yourself after the break — if you can make anything out of the fuzziness.

Mass Effect 2: EA refuses to confirm PS3 version

masseffecta3

EA has refused to specify what company CEO John Riccitiello meant when he said that Mass Effect 2 was a “multi-format” title on Tuesday, yet again skirting heavy rumour that the sequel is heading to PS3.

“As John Riccitiello said on our earnings call this week, the game will come to multiple platforms, but we do not have any more details for you at this time,” a senior UK rep told VG247 today.

Speculation of a PS3 version for the 2010 sequel has been off the chart since Riccitiello’s comment in EA’s Q3 earnings call.

The original Mass Effect was a first-party affair and hence, obviously, a 360 console exclusive.

EA’s cagier on this than a mad lion… in a cage. We’ll know soon enough.
