Source: PSP-4000 has sliding screen, is “complete aesthetic overhaul”

VG247 has learned that PSP-4000 does have a sliding front-screen, with a highly-trusted source confirming fresh details on the unannounced machine this morning.
PSP-4000 is not PSP2, but rather a “complete aesthetic overhaul” based on existing PSP tech.
Much is now known by some parties of the console, which will be announced at either GDC or E3 this year, but cards are currently being clutched very tightly to chests.
The revamp does have a sliding front-screen, and we’re assured the design being currently touted isn’t a million miles away from this now-infamous image.
Eurogamer rumoured PSP-4000 for a 2009 release in December last year, and our source confirmed this to be the case today.
Sony has constantly denied PSP2 is in the works: now you know why.
Rumour? This is not a test, Ringo. Comprendez vous?

Street Fighter IV ships 2 million units

Street Fighter IV’s now moved more than 2 million copies worldwide, Capcom’s confirmed.
The game released last Friday, and will be followed by the new Street Fighter movie on February 28.
“The movie was developed in order to help rebuild the Street Fighter brand by drawing in new fans and reinvigorating fans of old,” said the firm
“In fruition of its policies, Capcom has achieved the feat of breaking the two million copy mark despite the economic crisis with this first iteration of the Street Fighter series in 11 years.”
Where’s our copy, Capcom? And where’s our FightStick, Mad Catz? Just not good enough.

Rockstar: DLC is the “future of gaming”

Fat pipes are the way forward, Rockstar said this morning, claiming that downloading game content is the “future” for the medium.
“I think people are seeing this as the future of gaming, and we see it,” GTA dev chief Jeronimo Barrera said in the latest Major Nelson podcast.
“Obviously we’re going to continue to create more games, full games, but we’re also excited about what we’re going to do with Xbox Live and DLC.”
Barrera was talking in the second part of an interview on The Lost and Damned, GTA IV’s first 360-exclusive DLC episode.
The content released last week.

Rockstar: The Lost and Damned plot “exceeds what’s out there is all other mainstream media”

Rockstar dev head Jeronimo Barrera has said he believes The Lost and Damned script “exceeds” writing currently available in all forms of media.
“If you put The Lost and Damned up as a movie script, man, it’d be crazy,” he said, talking in the latest Major Nelson podcast.
“We want the gamers to realise that there’s a lot of super-talented people working on this stuff, and the quality and the calibre of their work, I think, exceeds what’s out there is all other mainstream media.”
Barrera went on to say that gaming as a medium should be reliant on plot and narrative.
“This medium needs to be driven be the quality of the content and the story,” he said. “Some stuff ends up being so generic these days. We want to have something that stands up to all mediums.”
He added: “Not to say there’s anything wrong with aliens and space marines and all that stuff, but for us it’s focussing on delivering quality, whether it’s the story, the animations, the art.”
The Lost and Damned, the first part of GTA IV’s two-part 360-exclusive DLC package, released last week.

The news is likely to cause many, many people to go fucking nuts, quite frankly.
Ueda’s involved in a panel titled, “Evolving Game Design: Today and Tomorrow, East and West Game Design”. Grasshopper’s SUDA51 joins him.
With Ueda in town there’ll only be one assumption: that Sony’s readying to show the next Team ICO game.
Dig yourself a bunker for Monday. Ueda’s hot hot hot. Thanks, No_PUDding and Johnny Cullen.
