Lewis: “Windows 7 will be great for games”

Xbox Europe boss Chris Lewis has told GI that gamers have nothing to fear from Windows 7.
“Windows 7 will be great for games, undoubtedly,” he said.
“It’s all good news – it’s even more robust, it’s quicker relatively, and the early testing cycles are proving very promising overall.
“I think it’ll be nothing but good news for PC gamers, but we’ll have more to say on that later on this year.”
Lewis also reaffirmed Microsoft’s commitment to PC gaming overall, claiming that the Games For Windows campaign would be an ongoing investment.
The third part of the site’s Lewis interview’s here.

Wasn’t Vista supposed to be great for games because of the exclusive DirectX 10?

It might be good if you could use the touch screen technology for RTS’s.
Other than that I doubt that it’ll be much different to Vista.

“it’s quicker relatively”
In other words, it uses a lot more features than previous versions of windows, and runs these extra features faster than previous versions would be able to.

If anyone here has actually tried the beta, you’d know that Windows 7 *is* a much better system than Vista.
It’s faster, and it uses less memory. At the end of the day, that’s all that really matters.

I can’t really speak for games, since I haven’t installed any on it, but I have been very impressed with its compatibility with most software, so it looks to me that the compatibility issues which arose with Vista won’t occur this time around.

I have to agree with G1GaHURTZ, but that’s only if affordable high res touchscreens are to be found within the first few years. Personally, I’d be willing to trade up my 30″ Dell for a 28″ Touchscreen @1920×1200, but less than that in either size or res and its bust as far as I’m concerned.
