Tony Hawk peripheral will be more about tricks than balance

Variety‘s rumoring that Activision’s now confirmed Q4 Hawk game will have a “skateboard” peripheral. Big shock there.

A source has told the site that the peripheral will be more about “grabbing and manipulating the board to pull of all tricks” than for actual balancing.

It’s expected to release on PS3 and 360. Apparently the Wii version will not use the Wii Balance Board.

Robomodo’s supposedly working on the peripheral, and future Tony Hawk titles are expected to use it if all goes well.

If they can do it with a guitar, they should also be able to do so with a toy fingerboard, so, I’m just waiting for a cheeky youtube clip of how some determined engineer is controlling this game with one of those, instead of handing over extra for the official peripheral! :D

I understood it to be that the Wii version would be controlled with both the balance board, as a mandatory element, and then some other THP:LALALAND add-on on top of that. That could have been a misinterpretation, by that reporter of the article I read, though – despite my opinion of this whole design looking like the FINAL nail for this franchise, so requiring two peripherals to play the most popular platform’s version may actually be a work of chufing genius, on that scale! xD

This looks again to be, the precise opposite approach to Skate’s, a method which people have grown accustomed to, and enjoy. I doubt they’ll be able to reverse the landslide that the first Skate brought to this genre, because people aren’t dissatisfied with EA’s series to anywhere remotely approaching the anti-feeling held towards the tired Tony Hawk games.

Is it me or does that pic still not make tony hawk look like tony hawk lol, the last tony hawk game made him look like a right wierdo, actually no-one on that game looked like they are in real life lol

The last tony hawk which was good was THUG and then THUG 2 came out which crossed the line and made the franchise fail.
50points for blowin your arse out of a canon YAY :D = fail for a skateboard game

The last THPS game i played was Project 8. it wasn’t BAD by all means…well maybe a bit…after 10 years of the same damn thing in the game you get tired of it.

when Skate popped up on the shelves, it blew the only competition it had away, and I prefer it this way!

definately not going to buy the new THPS game.
