Johhny, it wasn’t quite as big a deal as this. Shadow of the Colossus cemented Ueda’s position.

It was such a small deal then, that a SCEE Spain representative leaked some pictures VERY early on in development.

And it was shown behind closed doors at DICE 2003, the fottage from DICE 2003 came LONG after the time of recording.

Anyway, there is never any record of him announcing anything at GDC. And I think ti will be asved for E3, but can’t wait to get a transcript of the panel.

Oh and btw (and PUD can vouch for this), I actually believe Ueda will tease something at GDC because of one thing.

NICO.

There was a concept trailer for the game shown at DICE 2003 (I think) which was meant to be a sequel to ICO 2 even though Ueda never said it was ICO 2.

So if they can show NICO (which then turned out to be Shadow of the Colossus) at DICE 2003, then they’ll at least tease trICO at GDC 2009.

This is a panel discussion at a developer conference, what are people expecting to happen exactly? The most we’re likely to get is a hint or two. The actual reveal of Ueda’s next game will be carefully stage-managed by Sony, not done at something like this.

GDC is just a glorified staging of announcments and Press releases. With a bit of dev discussion involved, not too much.

I get why people love Kojima, he’s done a lot of good playing on gaming paradigms. But MGS4 lost all of that, and the cutscenes were just unecessary.

But I suspect now that Kojima is working on other things, and Suda is working on an EA game, that well, it’s no more.
