Source: Forza 3 will release this Christmas

VG247 has learned that Microsoft intends to release Forza 3 as one of its major 360 titles this holiday.
The game has never been confirmed by the company, although it was heavily involved in the Intellisponse leak fiasco last June.
Intellisponse marketing concepts hinted that the game may feature a Collector’s Edition, DLC, over 100 tracks and 400 cars.
Microsoft’s Q4 first-party line-up for this year is unknown as yet, and we’re still in the dark as to when it’ll be announced.
The publisher hasn’t confirmed a GDC keynote this year: last year it used the platform to announce Gears of War 2, with the rest of its Christmas roster being shown at a US event in May.
Aside from Forza, it’s now known that newly-formed developer Ruffian is working on a “Crackdown 1.5″ product aimed for release at the end of this year.
Halo: ODST will also release in late 2009.
We’ve asked Microsoft for comment.

If it’s anything like Forza 2, it’s Day One.
We’ll hear about it at E3 anyways.

Would be nice if they could give a better sensation of speed for this one, as well as fully modelled interiors.
That, and get rid of the endurance races.
Going around the same track 60 times just isn’t fun.

I agree, I like your rumours and company interaction a lot VG247.
You should be commended on that.

Seeing that Race Pro is pushing the 360 to almost its limit (720p @30fps, no weather effect and no night/day cycle but better physics than Forza 2), I wonder how much more different Forza 3 is going to be from Forza 2? Is it going to be just more cars and more tracks? Will there be actual damage modeling or real suspension? Will Forza 3 do drifting (you can’t with Forza 2). It’s not like there’s a drought of racing game on the 360- Race Pro, NFS:Shift etc. I think it would’ve been better has Turn 10 waited for the more powerful xbox 720 so that a major improvement can be done to the franchise instead of incremental improvement (eg. Forza 1 > Forza 2).

You can drift just fine in Forza 2… there just aren’t any races set up around it.

I remember playing a game on 360 which had real damage built in if you wanted it.
Also drifting if memory serves me right.
Cannot for the life of me remember the name.
It was more of a sim thing I think.

mykem: I would argue that even the old PGR 4 is pushing 360 harder than Race Pro. It’s a typical Simbin game, and while not technically the most advanced game in it’s own genre, it offers a solid driving experience that balances realism and pick-up-and-play style quite nicely. Gran Turismo and Forza are better “car games”, but they rarely have as intense bumper-to-bumper racing as Race Pro.
Oh, and it does have rainy conditions, although all career mode races have dry weather.
I don’t think Forza 3 needs to be that much different from Forza 2. Many people loved the car building / trading aspect that is still the biggest selling point of the series. Now we just need more varied races so you can show off the true potential of your pimped muscle cars. Even the first game had more variation. If they are using the same engine, hopefully you can transfer your Forza 2 cars to Forza 3…
