Square – DQIX delay may push FFXIII back

Friday, 13th February 2009 10:30 GMT By Patrick Garratt

Oh dear. Square Enix said in Japan yesterday that the now-confirmed Dragon Quest IX delay may cause a slip for Final Fantasy XIII.

“There is a possibility that Dragon Quest IX delay could effect Final Fantasy XIII,” said president Yoichi Wada.

He added: “The next term’s schedule has been fixed yet.

“Presently, I cannot say what kind of effect we will experience from moving the Dragon Quest IX launch from March to July. I cannot say there won’t be an effect.”

Dragon Quest IX was pushed back from March 28 to July 11 in Japan yesterday.

Thanks, Kotaku.

I can’t imagine that the two projects share many team members tbh, so I’m surmising that there was a delay on the cards already. The Internet wins again! :-D

I don’t think the issue’s got to do with shared teams, they probably are spacing releases in order to maximize benefits.

Yeah… somehow I doubt FFXIII was going to be ready for July.

You guys look at it from the wrong angle.

    Here are the FACTS:
Games sell better on the 360 than the PS3
The 360 has a larger install base than the PS3
360 owners don’t like buying left overs from the PS3
    PS3 owners are little crybabies

So Squenix problem is to move the 360 release of FFXII closer to the PS3 release. They don’t want to upset the SDF too much so what to do.

Blame it on a mysterious bug (yeah right, the DS is flawless) in DQIX that have a domino effect on FFXIII (to allow more time for the 360 version) and SDF and Xbots are too busy laughing at Nintendo to notice they have been decieved by the masters of deception (FFXII a game? lol) at Squenix.
