Game Informer’s God of War III feature scanned to death

Inevitably, all the God of War III media embargoed until this Friday has been leaked in form of scans.
Here. It’s all taken from the next issue of Game Informer, most of the detail of which was already summarised this morning.
“We want this to be the game that shows people what the PS3 can do,” director Stif Asmussen has told the mag.
It does, absolutely, look very cool. Hi-res screens, please.
The official release for all this stuff is 9.00am PST on Friday.
Thanks, Johnny Cullen.

Nice texture work.
Look forward to Friday to see it in detail I guess.

Whilst I do like the look of it, I’m struggling to see where the “OMG” is coming from.

They could’ve chosen some better shots of it, tbh – the most impressive images in the article appear to be painted concept art rather than proper shots.
I’ve no doubt it’ll be suitably spectacular, though. The PS2 games were, after all.

To be honest I don’t know.
I didn’t understand in the first place why people were up in arms about how it was going to look. Well I understand completely but I knew it was the wrogn reasons.
The had years to hone the engine in Santa Monica, on the PS2. That’s why God of War 2 was amazing.
This time, they are on level ground again. They haven’t had years to make the engine amazing. They are on the PS3 like everyone else.
Anyway, that’s my two cents.

Damn, Game Informer put on quite a spread.
Without seeing some high-res images of the content, it’s hard to judge just how good it looks. I agree with Blerk that the concept art is the best part of the article, but the few screen shots that litter the pages are impressive. Those centaurs look like they’re going to be a bitch to take down.
Visual presentation aside, my biggest concern is that the gameplay stays as polished and user friendly as it has in the past. If the game is a bitch to play, I won’t give seven shits from Sunday about how good Kratos looks.

I hope they resist the temptation to push things too far. They overstretched the PS2 to the point where the frame-rate could be choppy and the screen tore like a bastard. With much more power at their disposal, I hope they don’t decide to do the same thing again – it’d be much nicer to keep things in check a little and have it running tear-free and at a constant 60fps.

Theres someone through that link giving the graphics a numerical score from looking at the scans (8.5).

I don’t think it will be 60fps.
But shockingly, it may be 1080p.
The downloadable vid from the PS store is 1080p, and the Uncharted 2 one is 720p. Take from that what you will.

All things considered, I’d take rock solid 60fps (vlocked) 720p than 1080p any day.

I don’t understand 60fps love.

What’s not to love about 60fps?

Smoother than rice pudding is why — but, honestly, people believe talking about frames a second makes them sound tech savvy. In light of my previous statement, I’d like to say 60fps locked at 720p makes much more sense than 30fps at 1080p…
absolutezero: That person, then, is clearly qualified.

Rice pudding’s kind of lumpy. What about custard? Really nice custard. Without lumps.

This ought to be a contender for GotY on its release.
