Retroid - I'd say that two million in three months for a brand new IP on one console launched four weeks before Christmas could be considered a huge success, regardless of what SCE said.

It's the Ubi route to sales - slash and burn prices and try to get included in bundles, which ME was in many shops I saw.

As for LBP, Sony were saying it was be a massive seller, weren't they, while a lot of us lot were saying it'd probably 'only' sell well. Which is what's happened.

I think the difference here is probably that Dead Space held its value at retail, whereas Mirror's Edge was in the bargain bin well before Christmas.

I'd love to see more of this kind of thing from EA, though. They've really impressed me with how they've turned themselves around this last year or so. I only hope the crappy financials don't make them cut all this stuff loose again and go back to being the "do what we know" company that they were before.

ME and DS are very good games. I hope they will show the next installments of those titles at the E3.

Well to be considered failure, I don't know anymore...must seem you must sell millions quickly to be considered profitable.

Just goes to show that overtime sometimes games show their true power. After the reviews and what-not, people just get down to it and try it out for themselves and see if they want it or not.

Hopefully they don't dump these 2 really good games.

"1 million for Mirror’s Edge?

It was only so often ago that sales were reported to be bad."

Ignore them. LBP has sold twice that on one system in three months and still gets called a failure. It seems that if a game fails to come close to the sales of GTAIV it must be considered a flop.

And EA have already confirmed that ME will have a sequel.

I agree.
A Mirror's Edge 2, that moves Faith forwards and focuses on the things that people enjoyed from the first game, and refines, or eliminates the elements that weren't as well warmed to, is something I'd be enthusiastic about. I think narrative can work in any new game, but keep the supporting cast slight, and ensure Faith is the focus.
This first game was a great starting point, as well as enjoyable game to experience; now they should take what they've learned, and build from it, imo.
