Eurogamer Killzone 2 review – it’s a 9 [Update]

Just finished reading it and I think on the whole Dan was the right man for the job. Great review.

From what I’ve been told it’s bang on the money. Very much looking forward to playing it.

IGN review? Not such an exclusive deal EG had then…

There’s loads of reviews showing up for it… so no, it doesn’t appear to be an EG exclusive.

It seems Eurogamer had the exclusive in UK, Eurogamer in the USA, and no restrictions in the rest of the world. For example, in Spain a lot of webs have reviewed it, including Eurogamer.es: http://www.eurogamer.es/articles/killzone-2-analisis-review_1

Technically that means that Sony can ask any other site in those ‘regions’ to take down their reviews till feb 2nd. its a decent deal they cut really.

Glad to see it getting good scores. The dev must have been under alot of pressure to deliver an awesome game, and i’m glad they achieved it.
If I had a PS3, which I may get one day, I’d like to try it.

I still haven’t played it, to be honest. I spoke to Tom earlier and he said he’d played through half of it and couldn’t fault anything Dan said in the EG review. From what I saw at EE it looked technically outstanding. If everyone says “9″ I have no reason to doubt them, frankly.

Apparently it “upscales” the game (if on an HD TV) to 1080. 1080 isn’t the games natural resolution though as far as I know.

The beta was fan-dabby-dozy, so I suspect the full game will be fantastic.

Yeah, they advise 720p but it is capable of upscaling internally so you don’t have to rely on whatever shitty scaler is in your TV.

It was easily the most impressive thing being played at EG Expo, I’d like to have had a go but unsurprisingly it was rather popular.

I’m counting the days for this one. Loved the first game and the PSP version, I’m really pleased (and relieved) to see Guerilla have delivered.

Yeah, me too! Loved the first one (despite all the bad press) and will definitely buy Killzone 2.
But I will miss the replays with different characters which made the first Killzone so great.

I watched the cutscenes from the first game yesterday. Nothing too complicated obviously, but at least I have an idea of what’s supposed to be going on.
