The countdown is up and you can now see the new Final Fantasy trailer through the link.

It’s certainly is action packed, and features some of the most impressive cut-scenes we’ve ever witnessed. After about two minutes, you’re treated to some actual in-game footage.

It all looks very sweet indeed.

Update: We have removed the trailer at Square Enix’s request.

omg, it’s got Helghast in it! :-D

Actually that looks pretty fucking awesome. The character modelling is excellent. And they appear to have shied away from FFXII’s combat and gone back to a more FFX-ish approach. Which is good.

    Updated. Trailer now embedded.

It loads fine for me, but the 720p version really chugs, even when the video is already cached. Bit annoying.

Do we need to argue again? :-D

Nah, it’d be easier if you just admit you’re wrong before we begin. ;)

Well, from the looks of it, the battles don’t look a lot like Advent Children’s (the look they were going for). But, still, I said looked, so I guess it feels different when I’m actually playing since I still don’t know the mechanics behind the battle system. Other than that, it looks AWESOME!!! At least we get to see how the PS3 version is looking. Everything seems to be fine!! Man, please god let this game come to the west this year! (like if god reads game sites)

EDIT: Why would Square not want the trailer to be shown here? More hits to the FF13 site? Are they crazy?! It’s called FREE promotion Square!!

    It’s a pass Square. You’ve done alright.

Just noticed a different site’s embedded stream, I really do agree with their choice of preview still – the subtitle in the window cleverly reads: “You can’t expect us just to sit here!” :D

    Very appropriate.
As wonderful as it looks, and may well play (I wish I could tell how the battle system worked, but the way it’s cut together, and the foreign text, means you really can’t) it is still hinting at being more of an evolution of FF, than a revolution. It might be fun dancing about in the air, i suppose, but will it really enhance the battle experience, or will it have the effect of an over-long summons sequence, where you end up wishing they’d just jolly well get on with the fight?
I’m also somewhat disappointed that there wasn’t any real focus character…it was just a lot of disjointed action sequences.

I wonder, then, if it is telling that we’ve really had nothing but story/character/CG, about Versus. What’s shown today was top-notch, brilliant, but it’s not really, I guess, what I rate most about final fantasy.

Square Enix sent copy infringement letters to all sites who are hosting/embedding the trailer, telling them to take it down or face legal lawsuit/repercussions.

    lame!

Idiots. The whole idea of a trailer is that it gets out there. Not to mention saving them about 8 billion gb of bandwidth costs. :D

I’m with Blerk. Proper turn based combat please!

They want the traffic going to *their* site to build up buzz, hits and links. I think Square of all companies can afford the bandwidth…

  20. Psychotext said:

But why? There’s next to no advantage. People will see the trailer, and that’s it. If they want more info they’ll go to the site.

  21. Joystiq are still hosting it. They probably ignore emails.
