Rumour: Leaked Alan Wake footage surfaces [Update]

alanwakee2b.jpg

The internet has released some off-screen, poor quality, but very real-looking Alan Wake footage.

It’s in first person, and Alan’s looking around a snowy area with a pistol in his hand to some eerie music.

We’re checking with Remedy for comment.

Check it out after the break.

Update: Remedy has confirmed to VG247 that the footage is fake.

First person? Wha..? Now there’s a surprise. If it’s real.

Hard to tell whether it looks any good or not from that video, unfortunately.

Looks good, but that’s a very odd camera position.

The hand holding the gun seems a bit stiff but it’s an easy guess that the surroundings are quite beautiful from a graphics standpoint although the video quality is poor.

And, yeah, the game being a FPS is a pleasant surprise. Good choice IMO.

Youtube heightens the look (or adds if there is any) of Post Processign effects, including bloom, HDR, motion blur, general blur….

A multitude of thigns that killzone 2 looks like it does in direct feed.

So even if it were Alan Wake, I’d have waited to see if it did it first.

And there’s me thinking all YouTube did was fuck video over to unwatchable levels with its crappy compression.

Looks nice what ever it actually is – like the lack of hud and prompts. Torch effect was a bit poo – same size/shape whatever the distance/object it was shining on.

Are you guys stuck in 2007 or something? Youtube has been rolling out high-quality and HD video playback features constantly over the last year or so.

“Shitty video compression” is about as valid a complaint as “Nintendo’s consoles don’t sell”. It was true three years ago, but not anymore.

Sometimes I think you guys whinge just to whinge.

YouTube’s higher-resolution stuff is better but still far from optimal. And as the video above shows, whether it gets used or not is entirely up to the uploader.
