Kotaku’s rumouring that Black Box has seen 150-200 staff laid off today following a company-wide meeting held at EA Canada.
CEO John Ricittiello is said to have headed up the shindig.
The news comes the day after Skate 2 – developed by Black Box – released in the US.
The outfit employs around 350 people.
EA has said it will go into fuller details on restructuring – announced to the tune to 1,000 staff – in its next earnings call on February 3.

That’s twice you’ve used that line… except both things you’ve said I’ve heard a million times from a million other fanboys.
For what it’s worth, I reckon both things you’ve said will come true… but that doesn’t exactly make you a trailblazing prediction maker.

Well, since they couldn’t get Skate 2 to be able to maintain a stable framerate on the PS3, when other EA-published games like Dead Space and Burnout Paradise runs flawlessly, I fully understand why they are among the first to go. Especially since the first game had the same problem, and they haven’t been able to remedy it for the second outing in the series…
Pity, I was considering buying the game, but, oh well.
