That’s true Blerk. Remember though, when the Xbox was released, Microsoft was always way behind their competition. They were a new brand and had to take their lumps from the competition. Slowly, gamers approved the Xbox brand as a legitimate gaming platform. So, any positive news is great news for Microsoft. They are just ecstatic that they are included.

Now with the next generation of consoles will we have the same response from Microsoft or will they have a more “ho-hum” attitude towards sales if they are not dominating the competition? Time will tell…

Lets see in no particular order:

1. Poor software development kit.
2. lack of overall general purpose RAM.
3. NON- Unified Shader Model GPU.
4. Price.
5. Overly complex and convoluted Cell/SPU Architechture.

They can only fix two of the five at best, 1 and 4. Also Blueray has not quite taken off… not by a long shot. And that is more due to consumer indifference than anything else, so it may not get better especially in the global economic recession.

Anyway, I am so glad Nintendo is back on top, even if they are not the company they once were. What Nintendo needs to do is WORK with the third party developers to deliver original games for the Wii. The Wii may not get more play time than my 360 but it is a wonderful machine that I do use very, very often.

personally I think the lead would be much more closer and maybe the ps3 might have been in the lead at the beginning, but the fact there has been pretty much no price cut for the ps3 and 2 for the xbox this year make it pretty obvious that this holiday season was guaranteed to end up with xbox 360 above ps3. I doubt it would have been possible for them to take lead if ps3 had maintained the lead they could have had at the start if both consoles had been released at the same time however, and so am saying that xbox 360 would have overtaken ps3 anyway, for me because of the lack of exclusives that make me want to get a ps3. MGS4 is the only thing I would get one for and I hope that will come to the 360 on however many discs in a year or 2 or 3, as it is my favourite game series ever. I’ve been lucky enough to have a friend let me play it from start to finish at his house though so no need to rush for a ps3 anytime soon

Sony Stock Slips On Operating Loss News

Based on early trading on the New York Stock Exchange, Sony shares have slipped moderately on news of a Nikkei report claiming that the company will post operating losses of $1.1 to $2.2 billion for the 2008 fiscal year.

As of 10:45 a.m., Sony shares were down 78 cents to $22.32–close to a 3.5 percent fall. However, shares have strengthened since the start of the trading session. Sony shares were off as much as 5.2 percent around 9:30 a.m.

Compared to how the Japanese market reacted, the fall has not been nearly as pronounced. On the Tokyo-based Nikkei index, Sony stock tumbled 8.9

Even the Japanese know Sony is a sinking ship. LOL.

Too Human was a decent game with flaws big deal it wasn’t a flop and/or bad game like Haze or Lair.
Blue Dragon was also a good game but was bashed for its kiddiness.
I just bought a new Elite for $400 which is the same amount as a PS3 so if I wanted one I would have gotten one.
The biggest letdown of 08 is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Spore.
If PS3 and 360 did their launch at the same time the 360 would still be in the lead due to customers not wanting to spend $600 on a console (That was the price for it during launch).
Uncharted is undoubtedly the best PS3 game along with LBP but no way did it have better graphics than Gears. It did have beautiful graphics don’t get me wrong just not better than Gears.
The best looking game out there today is Crysis and has been ever since it came out, so don’t call me an xbot.

Wow, although most statements here are wrong (like the fact that Red Rings no longer existence), I’m surprised by the lack of maturity. Most posts on here are about as bright as the midnight sky.

Yes Wii is leading the way, with 360 and PS3 following respectively. But at least the Wii and the PS3 aren’t suffering from a poor manufacturing process.

Understand that the PS3 isn’t a pure game console. It has the fastest web browser around (even on PC/Macs), Bluray playback, a DIY HDD upgrade option, and free online gaming.

From a gaming standpoint, the Wii leads the casual market. The 360 leads in online gaming along with unfortunate online douchebaggery (seriously will it ever end?). While the PS3 maintains a more mature gaming lineup (except PAIN, which is pure crap).

Bottom Line:

Wii – Kids and the elderly (my 65 yr old father loves his Wii!)
360 – Online gaming for college males 18-34 looking to blow shit up
PS3 – For those looking for a multipurpose console (web browser, videos, games, Folding@Home, music, etc)

By the way, why is Microsoft charging for everything these days? They already charge for Live! I hate to say but the brits are right, we are wankers.
