Swedish site removes Killzone 2 review

killzone1b1.jpg

It appears the first online review of Killzone 2 published by Swedish site, GP (Gothemburg Post) that we told you about this morning has been taken down.

The review, which awarded the game 4/5, was the first on the web but has now been removed to what VG247 understands to be a break in embargo.

Sony told us earlier in the week the online embargo for Killzone 2 reviews is lifted “early February”.

Thanks, g00nerz.

So wait, Sony is allowed to tell people when they can review games?! do they get to tell you what to rate it as well?

This is sad. Old media papers always bang their big drum about how independent and free they are. Then they fold under pressure like a thin sheet of silk.

Even Kotaku fought the man and won.

EDIT: Oh, Home and the blackballing, when I seen that, my mind blanked XD

Yes, the Home blackballing thing at GDC some years back. I can’t find it on Kotaku since my AdBlock completely borks Kotaku.

Why is everyone acting as if this is a rare event? Most games have review embargos.

Embargo’s are just common sense. Why have reviews up of your game ages before it comes out? No, it’s not because it’s a way to keep back bad reviews, but you want everyone to be talking about your game when it actually comes out, and not 2 months before, so when it does come out, everyone has forgotten about it.

Embargoes are fine as long as they’re not stopping bad reviews coming out until it’s too late for people to cancel their preorders.
