FIFA 09 and Mario Kart Wii top UK 2008 charts
In probably the last of the “… in 2008″ stories this year, ELSPA/Gfk-ChartTrack told MCV last Friday that EAs FIFA 09 was the best selling game in the UK all format charts.
Mario Kart came in second and Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto came in third.
However, Mario Kart was also the UKs best selling single format title of last year. In fact, in the individual SKU department, Nintendo cleaned up with Wii Fit and Wii Play coming in second and third respectively.
You can see the all format top ten after the break, and the individuals through the link.

Mario Kart is understandable, it’s a good game!
Fifa 09 I also expected, but I’m still a bit disappointed by it being that successful (I reckon it’s an average game at best). Britain is the land of footy after all, eh? Who here doesn’t have a favourite team?
It’s times like this I can relate to that episode of the I.T. Crowd, what’s it all about?

I find Mario Kart rather dull, actually. I’ve no idea why it’s selling as well as it is.
Surprised to see Lego Indy in there, actually! I knew it did quite well, but didn’t expect it to be in the top 10 for the year.
