“No plans” for Star Ocean: The Last Hope PS3, says Square
Following on from the earlier story that the Star Ocean IV US release date moved forward a week, Sqaure Enix has told IGN that there are currently “no plans” for a PlayStation 3 release.
“…there are currently no plans for a PlayStation 3 version,” said the development team when asked.
Square Enix issued the exact same statement back in June last year.

Money buys a lot of things.
Not just games, but public denial.
Who knows, maybe I have too little faith, but as long as MS isn’t publishing it, it’s on a contract. And that costs money.

It’s true though. We’ve seen numerous games that had “no port plans” suddenly turn up on other platforms.

It’ll probably depend on how well it does in Japan. I doubt it’ll get a US PS3 release unless it’s an international smash hit, as the PS3 has fallen back under 2:1 in the states.
It costs some dinars to port these things, so if the game is (and sells) as middling as recent Square Enix offerings, it might not be worth the effort considering they presumably already got a significant amount of cash for the timed exclusive.

I think that, the major market for it (Japan) where the PS3 is 4:1 the 360, and Europe where it’s 1:1, will make the difference for Square.
Porting a UE3 game really is NOT that difficult.
Doing it well is though xD

I’d be surprised if it doesn’t turn up on the PS3 eventually. Although Tri-Ace haven’t done anything on PS3 yet… SquareEnix could well handle a port on their own, though.
