Sony Pictures lets Ghosbusters game date slip [Updated]
A press release from Sony Pictures announcing the 25th Anniversary of the Ghostbusters movie,has inadvertently leaked the release date for Ghostbusters: The Videogame.
From the release:
America’s favorite paranormal psychologists are back to save the world, this time with unsurpassed picture and audio quality and advanced new bonus features in the Ghostbusters Blu-ray Disc, releasing worldwide the week of June 16, 2009. The simultaneous launch of Ghostbusters: The Video Game, the highly anticipated videogame from Atari, celebrates the film’s 25th anniversary, with an all-new adventure from by the film’s original writers.
So, the week of June 16 is it, then?
We’ll check with Atari if we ever stop trying to catch up with last night’s and this morning’s news.
Update: MCV reports that Atari has confirmed a June 19th release date.

I hope this will be good. The kids like Ghostbusters too, so it could be a good family title.

Honestly? This needs to be good. Given the IP, if it’s a good game, then it has the grounds to be an epic title. This would be the most criminal waste of IP if it wasn’t since… well, what? I don’t know, really. Possibly ever. I’d settle for just a decent game, so I’m not expecting too much, just don’t tie a crap game to the IP, GAIZ!
