Nyko unveils new Wii wand at CES

Console peripheral firm, Nyko, unveiled a new Wii-mote at CES 09 in Las Vegas last night called The Wand.

Although looking like a tarted up version of the original, The Wand will apparently use Trans-Port technology which, according to CNet, will allow “compatible devices to take advantage of functionality not always available in current Wii remote accessories” like featuring full force feedback and other wonderful things like that.

The Wand will go on sale in the US in April. No price has been given.

Idunno, it looks like a much better controller to play the old NES games on the virtual console. I have a very tough time playing with the smaller buttons of the original Wii remote. It may look less attractive than the Wii remote, but how often does one look at their controller when they play/not play games?

But look at that d-pad, man! It’s like… I don’t know what it’s like!

Yeah, I have no answer for that. It’s like they combined the “plus” design of the D-pad with the box from the “A” button. Kinda looks like it will ruin your left thumb if positioned wrong. Perhaps while doing a Street Fighter move.

Meh, I still like the “1″ and “2″ buttons though. Nice a big. Mario 3 was very tough to play with the Wiimote. :(

I can’t help but feel as though they’ve stuck Jolly Ranchers to that. So if I get one, I’ll be naming mine the Jolly Wand, and no one shall be smart and/or observant enough to catch the reference!

Jolly Wand sounds kinky, too, though.

It…is…ugly. Very ugly.
